But overarching credibility isn’t really the point of this kind of narrative, a diverting, gripping page-turner with an abundance of pulpy material, much of which I found surprisingly enjoyable - especially the tentacled creatures who lurk in the mountain’s shadows. You wouldn't be allowed to be with me, obviously, as then you'd hear the name of the access, and even that would be too much. Binge has written a profound and elegiac story that examines science, faith and the concept of humanity itself… I will be thinking about this one for a long time! Sometimes a man needs help giving his thoughts life, giving his words meaning, so that he can confide that meaning with God.I checked into the Historic Taos Inn, a quaint location set across several adobe houses, thankful that I was here in January.

Ascension” is a lovingly retold version of a classic horror thriller, but with more humanity and real emotion; it is the story of a broken man and what redemption looks like in the real world. But I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case and the faith aspect isn't done in a overtly heavy handed way at all.

I'll definitely be looking out for more from Nicholas Binge in the future, and I wholeheartedly recommend this. Binge is an author to watch, and if his subsequent novels are anything close to Ascension, I’ll be reading every single one. When Harold encounters Naoko, he's shocked by her strange behavior, the first of many oddities that surface. It just feels like the author wanted to make sure we understood his protagonist was a genius and he knows Einstein = physicist = genius, so that’s the profession the protagonist has to have, with zero regard or understanding of what a physicist is or does.
