Don’t make the happy little accident of missing out on Bob Ross: Art of Chill though; it’s a game I can highly – perhaps surprisingly – recommend. a painting is selected with 3 features and if you have the correct paints and the correct brush then you could paint it and get chill points on doing it. Bob Ross: The Art of Chill captures the iconic paintings and gives players a unique experience that is a lot of fun. But after playing Bob Ross: Happy Little Accidents with several different groups of people, I can say that this game seems to capture the spirit of Bob a little better than the first, even if there are fewer game elements than in the first. The game is simple enough to pick up for most folks, and while I think the scoring can be a bit convoluted for a non-gamer, it is this system which generates enough of a game to satisfy the more experienced crowd.

It’s not something that’s going to require deep thinking or tons of strategy, but if you came looking for a Bob Ross game to include that, you really don’t get it. Not because there’s a ton of variety in the game, but because it’s a simple game to pull out and play. It probably won’t appeal to more serious gamers, who are more likely to succumb to the easygoing, slightly more in-depth charms of Art of Chill. At the beginning of the game, each player uses a black marker to draw a quick scribble on 3 slips of paper.Just by using your imagination and the right card combinations on your palette you can paint two or even three paintings and maybe even win the game in about 30 minutes. If it finished because a player completed their third feature, they earn all their points for painting the feature (and any bonuses). You will score bonuses each time you paint a feature which uses the tool or paint seen on your Technique card. As you can tell from our description of the game play, the rules are very simple and straightforward.

It’s competitive without ever feeling unfair or nasty in a way that competitive games can sometimes become. All that being said, this is a nice little package, and I think it may make getting people to the gaming table a little easier.Few things are as chill as Bob Ross painting happy little trees or styling a charming cabin next to a body of water. And I heard him talked about on one of my favorite podcasts, “The Way I Heard It”, by Mike Rowe this summer!
