About this deal

Ingenious detective work, logic, intuition, aided by computer experts and Rachel's dodgy, wealthy father, lead to the possible location of the crimes. I think it’s a huge talent for an author to make you feel for someone in ~100 pages, whether that’s fear, pity or utter hatred. By the end of Broken Dolls, Winter had developed into a great character who almost every reader will want to ride with again. She is very cautious about the men she lets into her life until one day there is a knock at the door.

One hell of an unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way… I almost had to read through my fingers… A brilliant, and highly recommended read. Then there's Oh my God so Beautiful most Beautifulest but tough but so model-gorgeous Templeton who's also super tough but kind of really isn't at all.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. FYI: I’m a freak so of course I went in blind and loved every fucked up minute but I’d suggest checking triggers before you read.

Not a murder-mystery, or a who-dunnit, in that (as with all serial killer books) the killer is obviously not a character we know, it's more about how Winter figures out who the unsub is when all of London is the suspect pool. The only niggly point was Winter's theory on the dominant / submissive relationship of the unsubs - how he got to that theory is still a mystery to me. I don't expect literary masterpieces when it comes to a genre known for its shocking gore and disturbing plots, but I do think this was a personal work that was published and possibly fetish material. I found him to be a bit cocky because he's usually right, too perfect because the author gave him no flaws, and a lonely man because he moves on as soon as the killer is caught. Naturally, she finds a random way to damsel through the last part of the book because, duh, that's what happens when you're a pretty female. This killer has taste, he chooses his victims carefully, he has a preferred type, he's very clever and it makes for fascinating reading. Fortunately, that didn't last long and no sexual relationship developed between Winter and Sophie Templeton, the local female cop working the case. There are fascinating and well drawn characters on both sides of the legal divide, some likeable and some despicable but all rounded and believable and some of them are morally ambiguous, which is always interesting to read. I was lucky in that I had a big pool of women around me most of my life and could afford to run at the first sign of crazy.
