About this deal

Songs like the soaring previously released standalone single, “The Quest and the Curse”, as well as “The Cold” (the latter featuring a real, epic choir), lure with a bombastic sound that skillfully combines orchestral melodies, epic heavy riffs and marvelous vocal performances. Simultaneously on the same day of the single's release, the band announced the title of their upcoming seventh studio album, Dark Waters, with a release date of 10 February 2023. She has the biggest shoes to fill on the band's seventh album Dark Waters, replacing longtime singer and face of the band Charlotte Wessels, who departed to pursue a solo career. A CD titled Symphonic Dark Waters was released in August 2023, containing an acoustic version of "Mirror of Night", a piano version of "Hideaway Paradise", and the orchestral versions from the limited box edition's third disc.

The limited box edition features a third disc, containing orchestral versions of "Tainted Hearts", "The Cold", "Invictus" and "Underland". Thus, many of songs – though enjoyable – don’t come close to those adorning the recent album by outwardly similar German rockers Beyond The Black. The whole album has a very well-produced feel, and there is a good variety of songs to keep you engaged.

DELAIN’s renowned orchestral arrangements, highlighted by modern shadings, set new standards and manifest the five-piece on top of the scene. New album Dark Waters, their seventh overall, sounds like nothing other than a Delain album, features several former members and marks the debut of Romanian-born singer Diana Leah who sounds – eerily, it must be said – exactly like her predecessor, the justly popular Charlotte Wessels. The biggest obstacle for me to overcome going into Dark Waters was the new vocalist, but I was pleasantly surprised. That brings the quality down slightly, but is still recommended for those who may be skeptical of a Wessels-less Delain.

Sadly, Ad Infinitum chooses to throw in incomprehensible death metal growling - which I flatly can't stand. really good, but for me a "masterpiece" has multiple songwriting element, which this is all energy and catchiness throughout the album. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Many songs are strong, catchy and symphonic in best Delain tradition and also the new singer makes a good job, coming close to her predecessor in style. Tainted Hearts” is centered around Westerholt's keyboard arrangements, which skillfully showcase the creative roots of the mastermind. Queen of Shadow”merges the orchestral and synth-focused soundscapes DELAIN is known for as it weaves melodic heavy guitars that intertwine with orchestral lines and vocal melodies. While not their finest hour, the very existence of Dark Waters – and the fact that it doesn’t suck – is a marvel, and live shows will hopefully rekindle their fanbase’s once rabid loyalty.
