About this deal

The had had three other cars in the last month with the same issue however, so it looks like it might be a dodgy fuel batch.

I've got a 95 and the hold light has been flashing but I didn't need a voltmeter, the hold light itself flashes the sequence when you short the relevant contacts and turn the ignition on (I have linked to a movie of this in my thread on my own problem. The glow plug light is used for many problems, the fault codes need to be read, and with a VW diagnostic tool. The other garage replaced them immediately and kindly gave me a loan car (nice people) and now all seems well. For info the car has done 49k miles in just under 5 years and I have owned from new and treated it well!

The dealer reckons it's a priority 5 (Low) and will need to take the manifold off to check, although apparently it has already had the flaps (! I have booked it in with Audi to have a retrofit cruise control fitted on Wednesday so hopefully they will sort out the system fault under warranty. Even though most FWD cars have the engine cross-ways and no mechanical fan on the front of the engine itself. To give you some ideas about what may have happened, the glow plug light flashing when there is a fuel/air intake problem. Wouldn't have been rocket science for them to put a little paragraph in the handbook though Ah OK, too late! The flashing glowplug light is, quite commonly, an indicator of a brake light or brake switch problem.

Just looked back through some live data that I did a while ago and found that it was 98% saturated and the differential voltage is 0. Now when the first incident happened it was on it day 60 of a 60 day warrenty, so I'm not sure how things are going to play, all should be fine but I've already had issues with the garage, mainly due to them smashing the bumper before I picked it up and then not wanting to pay the 1000 to replace and buckling my alloy. With hindsight I should have tried removing and cleaning up the Throttle Body Unit on the front myself. Went out to see if it was still showing the faulty, no flashing light and nothing in the vehicle status screen. I personally think it's something to do with the DPF but think the garage are trying to avoid it as it is warranty work. You're loss of power is "restricted performance" and quite correctly resets when the engine is restarted, that is until it detects the fault again. After the service, the light was still flashing, so they plugged in the computer and had to reset it.

Pretty much random, but often accompanied by black smoke out the back, Lumpy running, poor starting or failure to start. Eventually, usually after driving on very rough roads, the lights go out - but come back randomly a couple of weeks later. If it does it again will give Skoda breakdown peeps a ring as the car is under able when it’s flashing. Having just had a quick look at the factsheet I think you need a voltmeter to get the code for a 95 model, but it's pretty well explained in the factsheet. Between initially leaving my Yeti at the local dealership and being permitted the use of the 2015 Fabia courtesy car, my father bailed me out by lending me his 2010 Fabia. Now I am usually good as waiting before starting up so I assume it went iff and came back on but I could have started before it went off.
