About this deal

not that I understand how 1/2 or 1/4 scale strings differ from full scale strings, to be quite honest. They simply don't sound good unless you are delicately picking a Romantic or Classical piece on them. I will say that as I was trying to test a song on the tiny fretboard, I did notice that these are quite sensitive to your nail technique, but with either no nails or well polished nails and good technique they sound lovely. In fact, the only ones I know of are Aquila’s and they have loop ends that are not designed to work with bridge pins.

Please don’t just recommend a specific string set without some information as to why you choose / use them? We're guitar players and string fanatics, and we're here to help you discover your favourite set from the widest range of acoustic, electric, and bass guitar strings anywhere in the UK.These strings can be comfortably used in most tunings above standard guitar tuning, even in F which proved to be the lowest tuning I could comfortably live with. The Alice ACU134 Guitalele String Set is an excellent choice for reliable and affordable strings for their guitalele.

I will have to file the nut slots for the 6th, 5th and especially the 2nd string, but that's to be expected with the thicker strings.OK, so I'm a relatively new owner of a Yamaha GL-1 Guitalele, and while the factory strings didn't wow me, I played them long enough to get acquainted with the instrument.

It is important to note that steel and classical strings require more effort to play, so it is best to practice before using them on your guitalele. This translates into a duller sound, less brightness and responsiveness, following this practical law: the thicker the string, the duller the sound. If you want to play a guitalele like a tiny guitar then I really wouldn't bother getting one at all and look at travel guitars instead. You can play guitar songs on a guitalele as the guitalele strings are tuned in the same intervals, however, you need to be aware that the guitalele is tuned the same way as a guitar with a capo on the fifth fret. That's the only way I can make sense of all the references to folks putting hard or extra hard classical strings on their guitaleles tuned to A. BTW, going back to my 650/52 after an afternoon with this 432/48 GL-1, my full size CG felt absurdly large! And the G string, rather thick, may produce a slight intonation issue at the 12th fret with saddles not compensated. As we’ve mentioned, thinner gauge strings might be more suited to your guitalele but they are very similar.
