I’ve made the decision to swap it out as I can keep the Trixie for his playpen, I’m thinking I’m going to go for a wooden one. Lovely wheel – so sturdy and SILENT 😛 it looks great inside the wooden cage – so stylish and classy looking compared to bright wacky cages and squeaky/rattling wheels. However, unlike super-quiet wooden models, the Silent Spinner is still made of durable and lightweight plastic!

My hamster loves his new wooden wheel – he uses it more than he ever used the other wheels we’ve bought – think it’s the gentle cork feel on his little paws. They are designed to prevent your pet's feet from getting caught in the spokes, which can cause injury. They seem to have their preferences just like humans and they let us know when they're not happy with something. Most plastic wheels tend to be incredibly squeaky and noisy, and given hamsters can run up to 6 miles in one day, the endless rattling can soon become a living hell.A small wheel can cause permanent injury to your hamsters back, leaving your hamster in unnecessary pain and discomfort.

A total of 1–3 wounds, separate in time, developed on the paws (mostly the hind ones) of almost all animals. Please adhere to the above size recommendations so your pets do not arch their back whilst using the wheel, as this can cause health problems in later life. Hammy originally had the open front smaller Savic from a baby til I swapped it for the Trixie so think he just got used to an open wheel where he can jump in and out.
