Both Roombas are circular in shape, with improvements to the rubber rollers to make them better at picking up dirt. This is the true power of iRobot’s mapping system, as it drills the process of getting your Roomba to clean a room down to a single sentence uttered.

During this process, the cleaning pattern of the Roomba i7+ will look much like that of the Roomba 980, as viewable through the companion app. I'm looking for a robot vacuum for multiple rooms, mostly hardfloors and found the i7/i7+ quite nice, but after reading a few posts and articles, some questions popped in my mind and I would appreciate having some owners' point of view about it!

From there, you can tell Roomba to clean specific rooms in your space after you've designated those spaces using the iRobot app.

Our Tip: If you don't have any allergies, you can save some money and vacuum the dust bag in the self-emptying base with a conventional vacuum. The most important difference between the i7 and the j7 is that the latter has a front-facing camera that enables it to avoid obstacles, while the i7 only has a top-mounted camera and therefore is more prone to bumping into or running over things before correcting itself.The dust bag in the clean base is large and takes quite a long time to fill up, depending on how dirty your home is.

You do have to remember to maintain your device – which means every month or so taking out the bin, cleaning the filter, (not with water as that will spoil the HEPA feature), removing trapped hair from around the rollers and removing dust and debris from inside. If that’s an issue, you should look for a robot vacuum with LiDAR (light detecting and ranging) navigation instead. One is light detection and ranging technology or lidar, which bounces light off surfaces to build up a picture of its surroundings.It would have been better if iRobot had used a washable, reusable dust chamber instead of the disposable dust bag.
