About this deal

Everything is tested by our dedicated team of in-house reviewers in our custom-built test rooms in London, Reading and Bath. The Schiit Mani and ART DJ pre II are temping, however they only have capacitance and gain adjustments.

Moreover, well mastered records play and sound clear as a bell, and the sound spectrum reproduction appears quite balanced. The Ortofon, or its cheaper “red” variant is often factory fitted to mid range turntables, or recommended as a first upgrade. The replacement, the Ame's unit, also from Harbor Freight has been fantastic and can handle spikes well as it's been zapped a time or two when diagnosing my dryer on at least 120V and yet, still works great. In some ways this may be even better than my beloved AR turntable due to a heavier platter and beefier construction.

The ONLY issue I had was the power indicator LED and I suspect it was the 7815 power regulator that was at fault, but it didn't help that I also ended up shorting out the cap behind it and killing off my first good meter, the Cen-Tech unit I bought from Harbor Freight. High output is assured by using a powerful samarium cobalt magnet, making any standard MM phono input suitable for use with the Nagaoka MP110. In comparison, my memory of the Ortofon 2M Red (on a different table, mind you) was of a rougher sound. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. This can give the illusion of a tame treble, the OM-10 also had treble range up to 23K and possibly poor resonance frequency for my then budget Kenwood turntable (from the mid 80's with a low mass arm) and I think it was not as good a match, add in a BPC grade receiver and some early Sansui speakers that could not produce much bass beyond 40Hz or so and was not very well detailed caused severe listening fatigue for records and for a few years barely played albums because of that. Having used my Ortofon for so many years on a daily basis I thought it was time to get me a new one but being low on funds made me realized that , being rather more expensive the Moving Coils variety I had no choice but to go the with another type of generating system. With the MP110, you're investing in a product that’s more than just high-quality sound—it’s a product that promises longevity and reliability. Tracking and bass impact are exceptional and the music has an effortless ebb and flow no matter if you are listening to classic rock or pure classical, with everything in-between.
