Notwithstanding the Queen-like a capella intro, he not only captures the poignant intimacy and stark vulnerability in Eilish’s lyrics, but takes it a step further. Lambert’s musical theatre background is evident in Billie Eilish’s ‘Getting Older’ which has him reflecting on the universal fear of ageing and gives a far-reaching emotional performance. The actor and playwright Noël Coward wrote the song some 90 years ago about unrequited gay love and the conventions of his time.
