Play continues until the agreed number of Doom cards have been collected by one player (three, five or seven). Placed in a deadly situation, each player is given eight (useless) object cards to use in their escape.But as with all trailblazers, from Citizen Kane to Waiting for Godot, the first iteration of an idea breaks the ground but then has to watch others come along to improve on and perfect its ideas. Whereas Funemployed can feel like alchemy in the way that even just reeling off the traits you are using to apply for an imaginary job can be amusing, and can make anybody funny, Bucket of Doom requires imagination from every player to work. The Bucket of Doom may sound like one of the stages of the Hunger Games but don’t worry as you will only be in imaginary danger. Unlike the game of this genre it most closely resembles – Funemployed – the set-up is a little too specific to get away with a vague response.One by one, players must choose one of their object cards and tell everyone the story of how they used that one object to make their getaway. When a deadly scenario is pulled from the pack (for example – you’ve fallen down a well) all you have to do is pick one of your object cards that would save you from this terrible ordeal.

Step 1: Read out one of the doom cards to discover what sort of mess you’re in – for example, let’s say you’re trapped in the Death Star garbage crusher and the walls are closing in. The first player reads out the impending doom card and players pick the best object the have and come up with the craziest explanation as to how they will escape certain doom using the object. With the right group of players this is immense fun and the crazier the storyteller the more enjoyable the experience. How could you use a prehistoric mosquito trapped in amber or a load of kids ball-pit balls or a dirty skunk to escape. Navigate through 70 challenging situations, including militant vegans, human centipedes, and angry Sith lords.Each answer card has two sides – one black, one white – and you pick which colour you wish to play with (there are a few rules variations involving flipping cards if your mind goes blank, but they’re unnecessary). When given the same attention as a real baby, she produces over 20 different noises, including coos, babbles, and chuckles. Some scenarios are smart and satirical – I loved the subtlety of the one where all it says is that you’re a lion in the Savannah, sunning yourself when a dentist appears – and this just makes the juvenilia of ones where you’ve done a troublesome poo or have your girlfriend’s dad touching your knee rather disappointing.
