About this deal

Focus II was recorded from 13 April–14 May 1971 at Sound Techniques and Morgan Studios with Mike Vernon as their producer. The group wanted to incorporate an element of humour in the track because they felt it was missing in the rock genre.

Hocus Pocus” is a sublimely weird rondo that alternates among van Leer’s scat singing, whistling, and yodeling and Akkerman’s incendiary guitar work—a siren song for hard rock fans everywhere.Hocus Pocus" was released as a single in the Netherlands in July 1971, followed by its international release in 1973, where it reached No. White Blue Horizon labels with text in blue, ⚭ Stereo to the left and lower-case Britico below it, unlike Moving Waves which has BRITICO in caps. Here Hocus Pocus was such a powerful song, it made a massive impression on listeners when they first heard it. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Euridice" is a classical lied which segues into the Gregorian-inspired "Dayglow" and followed by van der Linden's drum solo, "Endless Road". It’s worth noting that most Focus “greatest hits” compilations are larded with tracks from Moving Waves ; pound for pound, it’s the group’s deepest collection of memorable cuts.

Two are natives of Liechtenstein and probably fibbing, seeing as how they hail from a country whose very name begins with a lie. Overall, it's not a bad album at all, but there's a lot of better progressive rock albums out there.

It's not an Album for anyone who wants to have a singalong because there are no vocals whatsoever but it's purely one of the best instrumental renditions ever produced. As is the case with all Focus CD re-issues on Red Bullet, why couldn't the company spend a bit more on including the original back sleeve photo plus some notes on how the album was made, interviews, dates.
