About this deal

Nyktos is ready to sacrifice everything, including the devastation of the realms, to give Sera the life she deserves. She is published with Tor, HarperCollins Avon and William Morrow, Entangled Teen and Brazen, Disney/Hyperion and Harlequin Teen.

While his most favored Revenant is insistent that she is nothing more than a lie, Kolis's erratic nature and twisted sense of honor leave her shaken to the core, and nothing could've prepared her for the cruelty of his Court or the shocking truths revealed. Will listen to again to make sure I didn’t miss something and know where to skip when stuck in repetitive monologue. I was SO excited for this because the first and second are some of my favourite books of all time and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. It’s almost worse knowing we’re coming to the culmination of everything – all the careful planning and carefully woven threads. Especially with the revelation we get before this about a certain pretty poppy…Is he just that far gone? His character arc has some major development of its own, and, as always, his Daddy Nyktos/Dotting Husband vibes are an absolute treat. She is published with Tor, HarperCollins Avon and William Morrow, Entangled Teen and Brazen, Disney/Hyperion, Harlequin Teen, and Blue Box Press; and PassionFlix recently made her Wicked series into a feature film. I think her capture could have been half as long and still pungent and emotional and progressive to the story. For my own sanity, I should have paced myself cause I know the wait for the next instalment is going to be pure torture.

But for me it didn’t matter, because those last few chapters and pages will leave you closing this book with a smile on your face. Thankfully, and this is the only sort of spoiler I'll mention in this review, it doesn't end in a cliffhanger. I wanted to see how we go from a girl trained to fight and kill—a girl some in the Shadowlands scorned for her original plans—to the Queen of the Gods.

Armentrout creates a dramatic scene in which love and devotion collide against the backdrop of heavenly manipulations. We don’t know much about what happens to Nyktos, but we see every little detail of Sera’s daily life in captivity. The first half of the book was similar to The War of Two Queens, in that Nyktos is out of commission. The beginning of the book was engaging and addictive, and I loved it, but then the middle part got repetitive and dragged on, and then I think I was just too bored to truly appreciate the intensity of the last part, so I just found it to be a little mundane and redundant and an excuse to add smut to the book (it was a smut-fest for over 2 chapters). What we learn over 31 chapters is that Kolis is a A-hole (we knew that already) and Sera is more neurotic than we ever imagined.
