About this deal

I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Delacorte Press) or author (Danielle Steel) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. A high-profile politician’s career will be tarnished with scandal after a mystery meeting conducted at the hotel. We learn more about Alaistair, as he has come to this hotel knowing he is dying, with a short few months to live; he is prepared to end his life when things get bad.

Anxiously awaiting the guests is the new manager, Olivier Bateau, and his assistant, Yvonne Philippe. Alaistair and Gabrielle, start spending time together, as they try to help the girl, and visit at the hospital; a friendship begins.Known for its luxury and discrete service, the Hotel Louis XVI in Paris has attracted an international clientele of the rich and famous for many decades. The problems this couple confront forms a significant part of the second half of the novel, which sees the other issues at the hotel take a bit of a backseat. Scandal and tragedy erupt against the backdrop of an exclusive Paris hotel in Danielle Steel’s riveting novel.

He was shocked at the small fortune his father had amassed, and he and his children were set for life, handsomely, from the fruits of his father’s labors at the Louis XVI. I have always heard wonderful things about Danielle Steels writing, but this is the second book I have read by her, and I must say I was not impressed. Smaller than the grand “palaces,” the five-star hotels of Paris, it was a favorite among those in the know, the jet set, royalty, and the internationally chic. I think the cast was too wide in this case and Steel worked in a lot of sub plots for such a short novel. Complications revolves around a luxury hotel in Paris, Hotel Louis XVI, that has been around for decades, which has recently undergone renovations over a four-year period.A high-profile politician's career will be tarnished with scandal after a mystery meeting conducted at the hotel. People in hotel circles considered him a dark horse choice, but the owners of the Louis XVI had liked him when they’d met in London. He had left his longtime companion, Ghislaine, the head housekeeper, a generous sum too, and she retired to a small, pretty apartment in Cannes shortly after his death. He was intelligent, eager to please them, and had convinced them that he was the right man for the job. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills.

We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. Romance lovers will enjoy this, but other readers may encounter issues with the latter half of the novel if romance is not your mainstay. The descriptions of the luxurious accommodations and different lifestyles of its patrons kept me turning the pages quickly! The Louis XVI Hotel on the rue Boissy d’Anglas just off the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris had been closed for renovations for four years. It is not included in promotions available to our main range products, as stated in our terms of service.
