About this deal

A much-used word, karma is loosely understood as a system of checks and balances in our lives, of good actions and bad deeds, of good thoughts and bad intentions. Part tell-all, part cautionary tale, this emotionally charged memoir from a former video vixen nicknamed 'Superhead' goes beyond the glamour of celebrity to reveal the inner workings of the hip-hop dancer industry--from the physical and emotional abuse that's rampant in the industry, and which marked her own life--to the excessive use of drugs, sex and bling. Part tell-all, part cautionary tale, this emotionally charged memoir from a former video vixen nicknamed 'Superhead' goes beyond the glamour of celebrity to reveal the inner workings of the hip-hop dancer industry—from the physical and emotional abuse that's rampant in the industry, and which marked her own life—to the excessive use of drugs, sex and bling.

Confessions of a Video Vixen recounts Steffans' life from her troubled girlhood living in poverty in St. I'm not at all convinced she has actually learned the lessons she claims to want to teach the rap video-girl wannabes that pick up her book. Now, I believe Fabio is a ridiculous caricature as well, but I understand why he is idolized by lonely women who haunt the romance aisles at Target. The fact that she went months for many occasions without seeing him made me feel like her actions were out of selfishness and greed than out of support for her son. Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive.

That really made me feel as thought the book was another cry for attention and for publicity and money. I don't think she has changed much as I look at the other books she has pushed out to solitify her as a "superhead" or the ultimate bad girl in the entertainment industry. I don't know how to feel about Karrine/Superhead there is a part of me that does feel sorry for her but she is an adult she knows right from wrong I think she is very naive young women and she is confusing sex with love. Part tell-all, part cautionary tale, this emotionally charged memoir from a former video vixen nicknamed 'Superhead' goes beyond the glamour of celebrity to reveal the inner workings of the hip-hop dancer industry-from the physical and emotional abuse that's rampant in the industry, and which marked her own life-to the excessive use of drugs, sex and bling.

By sharing her story, Steffans hopes to shed light on an otherwise romanticised industry and help young women avoid the same pitfalls she encountered. Because she has truly learned her lesson it makes me question her motives for writing the book (even though I thoroughly enjoyed it). To them, my name was Yizette, a name that I had made up when I was sixteen, during my years as a stripper. The only interesting feature of this book is the private/sexual profiles of the stars mentioned above. The biggest discrepancy that I found really hard to swallow was relating to her realtionship with Kool G Rap.The last thing I remembered was my body shaking violently as I sat on the toilet with my head in my hands and my friend Eva hovering over me asking me if I was okay. In 2007 and 2008, Steffans visited a number of college campuses to speak about her involvement in the hip hop industry and its expectations of women. When she did name the things she did wrong I feel like she always found a way to justify or excuse her actions. I can't help but be impressed with all she's done before the ripe age of 30, but that's about all I can give her.

We all were influenced by our childhood but when do we stop preaching that sob story and take responsibility for our conscious adult actions. Details of the first twenty-five years of her complicated, yet, thrilling former life and lifestyle are captured in the pages on her memoir, Confessions of a Video Vixen, published by Harper Collins Publishers, making a biography almost obsolete. Her love for materials, drugs and using her body as currency is the point but is pretty hard to understand (to me) too. forced" her to perform oral sex on him until her nose bled on numerous occasions, then my friend, this is the book for you!The psychology of her experiences in this book is sound, including the little details she mentions and that's what makes it so believable. This was written by a self serving, drugged out, and Heaven help me I don't like to use the word, whoring gold digger. Don't try to act like you have any talent or charisma or that you had a real relationship with any of these men. She also seems to sensualize some of her stories but then they just end abruptly yet she can tell you exact details of materialistic things like what suit a person wore or what kind of car a person drove plus the interior of the car. There is nothing wrong with wanting the best in life and the best for your child but there are ways of getting it without opening your legs to every rich Tom,Dick,Harry.
