Even though her parents kept a roof under her head and fed her, it was still a painful experience to live there. These two were not just best friends, they were each other's lifeline and they have a long road ahead of them to become that for once again. Years later Ivy struggles to face the harsh reality of her choices after running away from her broken family home.

Ivy is barely picking up the pieces of her life when the boy whose initials she used to doodle hearts around approaches her at work. It costs more than anyone can fathom because the very things that make you feel even the highest high in the moment can also bring you crashing down in the next. It kinda felt like it was written by a 40 year old man trying to understand a twenty something woman and her problems. Their journey was paved with thorns and ugly storms, but they proved to us that together, they could conquer everything and find the road to happiness! She escaped a family that treated her like a nuisance, freely flourishing attention and money on her younger brother because he was deemed worthy.Dare You To Hate Me is a Beautiful Childhood Friends to Lovers, Sports Romance about Friendship, Loyalty and facing one's past. She is also the most honest representation of someone who had to struggle to survive and dealt with depression.

Complete opposites and yet once upon a time these two individuals use to be best friends when they were kids. Ivy finally has her life back on track and the last thing she expected was to run into the boy who turned her away. I loved the chemistry and while I’m not sold one hundred per cent on the tied loose ends with her family, overall was a great story that many romance readers will enjoy.Sometimes I feel like he didn't respect (I'll use this word since it was thrown in the book couple of times) some of the heroine' s decision.

I’m not even sure where to start as this story was complex and emotional in so many ways that I needed to take some time to reflect on what I had read. There's something sadder about the way Ivy ridicule herself being a whore, brushing everything she went through like nothing, and still, be as strong, selfless, and a dreamer as she was. At age 16, Ivy runs away from a home where she feels no longer welcome, where her parents struggle with financial issues, where the cops are a constant presence after her parents fight and her mother verbally and emotionally abuses her. Even as a young chid he always tried to protect Ivy and made sure she had somewhere to go when things were tough at home. I really liked that and I thought he treated Ivy with respect which she didn’t get from anybody else.It sucked me in from the very beginning and not one moment did I find myself not completely captivated by Ivy and Aiden’s story.

When she’s not writing, she’s working out, binge-watching reality game shows, and spending time with her friends and family. I will acknowledge that this book is not for everyone, it discusses self harm which could be triggering for some readers. This book deals with extremely sensitive topics such as self harm, and it deals with them extremely well in my opinion. Her Heartbreak series is what inspired my bookstagram journey because I felt like everyone needed to read her books right away, and I have no regrets. I love this author's flawless writing style, the multi-dimensional characters and the emotional exploration of a complicated situation.I loved Ivy and Aiden, I loved the side characters like DJ, Caleb, and Raine, the friend group in the story was sweet. Aiden is an amazing person all around though, not only is he the star athlete in this story, but he cares deeply about people.
