On the front of the backpack, there are two compression straps that allow you to bind down your gear securely if you want certain things like a lightweight waterproof jacket to hand. The Speed Lite 25 is a bit longer than the average, and the hip belt sits in more or less the right place, not only holding the pack still on my back but actually taking a bit of the load. This is in part due to the lightweight polyamide textile that uses an extremely thin yarn constructed into a web structure. The external stretch mesh side pockets are able to hold your large water bottles for additional water or storage if needed. Made of 100% recycled fabric, bluesign-certified and PFC-free, the Speed Lite is relatively light on the environment too.

I used my arms and torso a lot with trekking poles out of necessity, and the pack never hindered even the most drastic movements. The frame has been designed in such a way that it promotes freedom of movement and shares out a good balance of weight across the pack. Two pole retainers can double as ice axe attachment points, boosting the Speed Lite's seasonal remit, while a couple of external daisychains give you somewhere to clip things like a helmet. However, the relative lack of elasticity on the mesh sides of the front pocket limits its capacity, especially when the pack’s main compartment is full.Fasten the chest strap and pull until taut but not tight, the elastic section should not be extended. The Speed Lite 24 has a well-constructed harness system with a V-shaped back panel to really balance the weight of the pack onto the center of the user. As mentioned earlier, there are also zippered pockets attached to the hip belt for smaller items —like a multi-tool or snacks. The key to this lightweight design is the backsystem and hipbelt; unlike a lot of packs which feature a rigid, heavy design, the Speed Lite is about as minimalist as it gets, with lightweight foam and a layer of mesh used to give you the highest level of breathability in a pack which you can take travelling, trekking and mountaineering without sacrifice.
