About this deal

You certainly don’t need to be a supporter of the Queen or Royal Family (although I am) to read this book, it’s historical detail is very interesting and well worth reading. A new biography of Queen Elizabeth II by the author, broadcaster and friend to the royals Gyles Brandreth also says she accepted her health problems before her death “with all the good grace you’d expect”.

What is there left to find out, now we know, as Brandreth claims, that the late Queen might have had bone marrow cancer? That was the response from a total stranger when Gyles Brandreth delivered the Happiness Lecture at Birmingham University in June 2013. This book is believable, and his relationship with Phillip and HM for many, many years convinces me of the credibility of this book. The audiobook is well read by the author, who reads with a great deal of enthusiasm about royal history. Brandreth had the opportunity to spend considerable time with the Queen over the years - and even more time with Philip - and he weaves comments (kept in his prodigious diary) alongside quotes from some of her best verbatims (usually done when asked to do voice over thoughts in documentaries).

Canadian Author Details Anne Frank Cold-Case Investigation That Named Surprise Suspect in Her Family’s Betrayal in New Book Ahead of the 75th anniversary of the publication of Frank's 'The Diary of a Young Girl' in June, a team that included a retired FBI agent and around 20 historians, criminologists and data specialists identified a relatively unknown figure as a leading suspect in revealing her family's hideout. David Suzuki Takes Inspiration From His Own Grandchildren for New Kid’s Book ‘Bompa’s Insect Expedition’ The book features Suzuki and two of his grandchildren exploring the insect population in their own backyard. The Bill Gates Summer Reading List Includes a Sci-Fi Novel On Gender Inequality Suggested by His Daughter Bill Gates' summer reading list includes fiction and non-fiction titles that cover gender equality, political polarization and climate change. Even in these chapters, however, there is new material including an account of the coronation preparations by Oscar Wilde's son Vivian, who was married to the young queen's make up artist. He knew the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh personally so it was nice knowing that what you were listening to was true. Most of the history in the book has already been written about at length , including about family members , in the authors other books or by other authors. Gyles has known and interviewd her late majesty and prince phillip for many many years and had used some recollections from their times together.

We also learn that the Queen was a fan of Rupert Bear along with Winnie the Pooh and Paddington, and she always insisted on carrying her own umbrella, as otherwise the rain trickled down her neck. If you have read Philip, expect quotes from him you’ve already read, the same anecdotes to be retold and to feel a bit disappointed. I also hate the slight digs at everyone who isn’t the queen, they just take away from the book and make me feel like I’m reading another tabloid article.Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait feels less like a traditional biography and more like a chat with a particularly charming friend. Enjoy this special edition now featuring an exclusive postscript about King Charles III's Coronation. Sims (the highest-paid journalist of his day, who wrote the ballad Christmas Day in the Workhouse) and Jeremiah Brandreth (the last man in England to be beheaded for treason). However, she never lost her sense of humor, her love and compassion for others and the feeling that she was a servant leader.
