About this deal

There are very few illustrations in this book which I didn't like but a varied range of vocabulary to boost the children's literacy development. Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. She has been described by The Times as ‘a national treasure’ and was the Children’s Laureate 2013-15. In a dyslexia-friendly format, this is a magical and gently comic tale of friendship and thinking of others.

She has been awarded numerous prizes for her work, including the Red House Children’s Book Award, and has also been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal. With the help of a brave mouse and a resourceful spider, Ellie succeeds in finding the ring, defeating the machinations of Jolly the cat and convincing her Grandma that she has learned her lesson. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. Ellie discovers the importance of kindness and friendship and the satisfying ending resolves the family problems that lead to her challenging behaviour.

The grandma does her best to make Ellie feel at home but Ellie's bad behaviour has her turn Ellie into a cat.Inspired by traditional Middle Eastern tales, this captivating adventure is full of magic, mystery and danger.

This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). Jolly the cat is seen as a very well behaved feline by grandma so she is very content at being changed into a girl. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! This short tale was first published in a different format as “Elaine, You’re a Brat” but this new incarnation under publisher Barrington Stoke’s “super readable” label and with their trademark dyslexia-friendly layout and typeface and Matt Robertson’s brilliantly lively and humorous illustrations is fully justified and should prove to be an enjoyable read for children of 8+ who prefer short chapter books. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. Ellie doesn't take to her life as a cat but what she does find is Jolly isn't very well thought of by the other creatures in and around grandma’s house.
