About this deal

Acquired by Andy Sugden ( Kelvin Fletcher) and Katie Addyman ( Sammy Winward) in 2003, before the Barton family take the farm over in 2009.

If you're a fan of long-running soap Emmerdale, you'll probably have already watched the show's 50th anniversary which aired October 16, 2022. Originally the show was only intended to run for 26 episodes, but over the last five decades, more than 8,000 episodes have been broadcast - there have been dozens of births, and more than 100 deaths - and it has become one of the UK’s longest running shows. One of Oates' aims was to feature more of the village and rural countryside locations and to bring more "balance" to the show instead of focusing on "a few very high-profile stories". Emmerdale has slowly been teasing what viewers can expect from the episodes airing during the month of their landmark anniversary - it has been confirmed that a storm will hit the village. The buildings are one of the few original filming locations used for the entire series and have been involved in numerous storylines.

The Bafta-winning Yorkshire soap celebrates its 50th anniversary with an hour-long special on Sunday - exactly half a century after the first episode aired, on October 16, 1972. Therefore, Billy Fletcher, Nate Robinson and Mackenzie Boyd are thought to be most at risk of dying in the special. Home to the stars of Emmerdale during the week, our exclusive weekend tours will give you the chance to experience the drama for yourself.

Fans can also expect an eventful buildup to the wedding of Kim Tate and Will Taylor, plus Nicola King continues her grudge against Naomi Walters over her attack. Years of Emmerdale, “The complete story of TV’s most iconic rural drama” published by ITV Ventures and Octopus Publishing Group, follows 60 Years of Coronation Street “ The Incredible Story of Britain’s Favourite Continuing Drama” which was released in 2020 to mark the fellow ITV serial’s six decades of drama. The celebratory episode will air on Sunday, October 16 on ITV and ITV Hub, which marks 50 years to the day since the first broadcast of the ITV soap.Emmerdale was formerly broadcast during the day on RTÉ One from 1972 to 2001, before it moved to TV3, now known as Virgin Media One. Noah and Charity Dingle are also seen sitting in their car in the village, surrounded by fallen trees and swirling storm clouds while Nicola King is also seen in shock.

It was broadcast on UTV Ireland (now Virgin Media Three) in 2015 and 2016, it was then moved back to TV3 (now known as Virgin Media one) when Virgin Media Ireland, the owners of the TV3 Group (now known as Virgin Media Television Ireland) bought UTV Ireland from ITV, following the sale of UTV to ITV a few months previously. Reflecting on the challenges and ultimate success of the project, Lord says, “There was a lot of creative problem-solving every step of the way and things were made quickly and adapted on the shoot to make it all work, but everything paid off. Jack's funeral featured the first on-screen appearance in 13 years of Annie Sugden ( Sheila Mercier). The series originally aired during the afternoon and was intended to be a three-month television series.Emmerdale also still plays with the class system, the rich up at Home farm contrasting with the Dingles.

In 2014, the Dingles, Bartons and Whites were the central families; the Bartons are a farming family, and the Whites owned Home Farm. I am forever grateful for the opportunities the company has given me (three separate job roles, many secondments and TV credits on Emmerdale related shows, and of course the 50 Years of Emmerdale book) and for the wonderful friends and colleagues I get to share the working day with. Major storylines during this period included a bus crash, Sarah Sugden's death in a barn fire, a New Year's Eve storm, the Kings River explosion, and the Sugden house fire.Another storyline that attracted a strong viewer response is an arc that saw Meena Jutla ( Paige Sandhu) be revealed as a serial killer, with her confessing to two off-screen murders, as well as murdering regulars Leanna Cavanagh ( Mimi Slinger), Andrea Tate ( Anna Nightingale) and Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon). Each character, event, family and location is explored in exhaustive detail, with special features on Emmerdale legends, the show’s villains, births, marriages, deaths, and celebrity cameos, bringing all the highlights together with interviews and insights from cast and crew members past and present. However, one thing fans can rule out is a live episode, with cast members confirming that it is out of the question.
