You can read this as a stand alone but I recommend you read book one in this series, Heartbreak Hero, before reading this book. Sawyer and Sammy are attracted to each others but don’t want to cross that line because of Leo and her past. And if that isn't enough, the kidnapping, unknown enemies drama and retribution violence is seriously addictive. I still didn’t get the reason for Craig’s dad’s involvement and why he cared so much to kidnap her but alas.

I kissed you because I really f-cking wanted to kiss you, and I couldn't stop myself from doing it for another second. I didn't notice any typos but there may have been 1 or 2 since I couldn't read the whole book in one sitting this time. Kri doesn't want to be told to calm down or treated as less than the other employees but the male employees would be fired for less. One of the few people she can feel true peace and comfort with is her brothers best friend, but she can never have him. One thing I particularly want to note, I really appreciated the author's treatment of difficult topics with both a content/trigger warning at the beginning as well as just the general sensitivity in the way they were handled in the story.It was a little worse because not only did the FMC do something incredibly dumb, but a woman from the security team also does. However, Caitlin invited herself, whereas the former two were invited in by a member of the Davenport Bionic Academy, which means their visits were approved. It's especially annoying when the characters have conversations about certain things and then act in ways that contradict everything they said. I loved the characters of Sammy and Sawyer--I felt every angst that they felt--from their abusive life experiences.

This book is a standalone, but is a continuation of Heartbreak Hero involving many of the same characters. e.: my new bodyguard) – For having a jaw so chiseled it could probably slice through a huge block of aged cheddar, and yet, not letting me lick it. I ended up skimming to see how it all ended between them but wasn't too invested in the world as a whole.

He also asks how Caitlin got passed the Hydro Loop Security Guards, even though Donald said nothing about there being any Security Guards. I found the writing style really off putting and jarring; there are a lot of 'jokes' direct to the reader that were more like Dad jokes and really took me out of whatever was happening.
