About this deal

Yes, Datel have been good to us over the years, and their console-related brilliance knows no bounds, recently producing devices like DVD Region X for the PS2, simultaneously allowing users to play movies from all regions while simultaneously getting rid of the Matrix-esque green screen.

The device is plugged into the memory card slot of the GameCube, and then the game is started through the Action Replay device instead of the standard memory card. But if your Action Replay card has a white AR sticker then you have the limited edition version of the GameCube Action Replay and the AR card will be able to save game progress. A quick trip to the Datel forums can help you sort out just about any import game problem you can think of, though it is worth bearing in mind that the technology is and will always be a work-in-progress. With the release of the Nintendo GameCube, it soon became apparent that two blobs of solder and a small switch were all that was needed to allow US gamers to play Japanese games, and interest in an adapter for this purpose seemed minimal. Hey guys, lately my Gamecube fails to read my Action Replay disc, it reads original games without a single problem every time, but with the Action Replay disc it either reads it once or doesn't read it period.Select the cheats you want to use (ensure the cheats are from the same region as your game), use the B button to go back and select Start game. This guide is bad cause you're putting Swiss directly on the memory card and it takes up a bunch of space, ideally you'd want to put a DOL loader that looks on your SD device for another . And for PAL users running NTSC games, Metroid has caused more than a few headaches (although it turns out that, thanks to a bug in the IBM chips, about 1% of US GameCubes can’t run Metroid either). Action Replay's cheats, which are 100% unofficial--as opposed to the ones you read in magazines, which are built in by the games' programmers--offer flexibility and freedom: you may want to unlock everything in a game--infinite health, ammo and time, access all levels and vehicles, and much more--or you can activate just the one or two cheats you need to get you that little bit further in the game, turning them off later if desired. Nintendo countered by adding new protection chips in their big releases (and by including new technology such as the 3DFX chips which inadvertently had the same effect), and Datel fought back with updated versions of their hardware.

The FreeLoader software is available separately, but it’s included with the Action Replay, so you can instantly unlock games that will never see a US release such as Doshin The Giant and Winning Eleven. If you’ve got an old game you’re bored of, use a bunch of cheats to make it interesting again – I’d much sooner play Resident Evil with all the weapons and infinite ammo.

Whether you just want to play Doshin The Giant or you’re too crap to beat Soccer Slam, the Replay is ideal. This means that the device is essentially hacking the game, which can cause some unexpected or unintended consequences. None of them are particularly serious, but they make the Freeloader more accessible to some Gamecube owners than to others. It’s worth noting that the exact process for using Action Replay may vary depending on the specific version of the device and the game you’re playing. Also, I've heard nothing but bad things about Datel's SD card adapter, seems very unreliable and bad.

Infinite lives: Codes that provided players with unlimited lives in games such as “Super Mario Sunshine” or “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker”.of the software, people encountered problems with PAL games such as Resident Evil running with slowdown. A code list that provides a comprehensive list of cheat codes for a variety of different games, including codes for unlocking characters, weapons, and levels, as well as codes for enabling infinite lives, invincibility, and other cheat modes. The games are output in PAL 60Hz mode, so essentially, all this means for PAL Gamecube owners is that to get the most out of Freeloader, you must own a television capable of displaying PAL signals at 60Hz (as well as the usual 50Hz).

If you haven't already done this you'll see the message "Dolphin could not find any Gamecube/Wii ISOs or WADs. Soon they released the Universal Adapter, which allowed any SNES from any country to play games from any other country. Why play by the rules when Action Replay can give you everything you want, in virtually every GameCube game? The niggling doubt about future compatibility still remains, as demonstrated by the Resident Evil Zero compatible version update. I went through a lengthy process of installing XP in a virtual machine using Virtual Box, and I got SDPatch.

Am I supposed to now only use my Gamecube memory card for the AR codes from now on, and wipe my card of other game data? However, it’s important to consider the consequences of using cheat devices and to use them responsibly.
