Between these two types of pruners, we picked some of the most well-known brands like Felco and Corona Tools and budget brands like Gonicc and Vivosun. Plus, the handles are noticeably longer than most standard secateurs, so you’re less likely to injure or bruise your hand when cutting. Apparently, they’re made with “Izumo” iron sand, which was used in the manufacturing of ancient Japanese swords. Pruning shears or garden shears come in different types like bypass, anvil, ratchet, or thinning scissors. I didn’t mind the open/close mechanism too much either: you just flick down the small switch by the side of the blades (be careful not to get your fingers too close, mind) and a bouncy spring between the handles boings open.There are a few different types but I prefer their bypass secateurs rather than the anvil type: they work like scissors so they’re less clumsy. They should only be used on very thick branches or for dead wood, as the cutting blade comes into compressing contact with metal, which can bruise the plant tissue. The handles have a soft grip for comfort and they're surprisingly light – half the weight of some of the other secateurs tested. With each smaller box fitting into the larger box, enjoy the gentle warm tones and sandy designs on each one.
