About this deal

The visuals in King of Spies offer a closer look at the action, which is the cornerstone of the book, breaking perspectives in wide splash pages and adding motion blur to the panels for a sense of rush.

Now, death has come knocking at Roland's door, giving him six months tops to live before cancer takes his life.

Mark Millar’s King of Spies is shaping up to be an action-packed romp through the contemporary world of espionage through the eyes of a hardened spy. MOTHERS OF REVOLUTION,’ CONCLUSION The war, which not long ago was everything, now seems insignificant in the face of the unimaginable destructive power of the stone. Far from a dedicated retiree coming back for “one last job for queen and country,” Roland King has realized that the system he has upheld hasn’t just betrayed him, it has betrayed everyone. Bush, Pope Benedict XVI, and Prince Andrew, you'll maybe get a momentary chuckle, but the rest is a tiresome and increasingly ludicrous series of action set pieces duct-taped together with father and son issues straight out of Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle" song.

Now, before I go any further I want to back up a bit and clarify some points about my relationship with Mark Millar’s work. She wants him back on his feet to finish his self-assigned final mission: murdering all the men and women in high office that he knows are to blame for the absolute mess the world has become. But, it is so much more than this as Mark Millar and Matteo Scalera gives us a man who begins to question his past and the actions he took out of duty to Queen and country. Scalera uses a variety of angular shots at his disposal for dramatic composition, often blacking out the background with heavy ink work to focus solely on the characters "on screen. I can’t wait for people to see it and wanted to share a couple of the images we’ve been putting together for the comic-book side of the project.

I love stories about an old gun-fighter back for one last job and this is the granddaddy of them all. The series is also written by Mark Millar, who we know is no stranger to the spy genre due to his successful The Secret Service: Kingsman franchise. Throughout the entire tale, Roland is fixated on his self-righteous journey until things come full circle, like a Greek tragedy.
