About this deal

I get afraid when I can’t walk too much, or as much as I used to, I am thankful that I can walk with my walker. But to use profanity for no reason, you have to be a super good friend or my attention simply walks away. This is both a light and a deep reading, with a subject few authors explore, but that it's important, and just for that, it's worth reading.

Jonas, your struggle to cope and recognise the blessings in your life, will resonate with many people, as it does to me. When the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo had her gangrenous right leg amputated, she commissioned a custom-made prosthetic leg, with a painted red boot, embroidered with dragons and bells. But there is some sort of additional charm in the book being "written British" that just contributed to my immersion in the story. It came as a free Goodreads-sponsored giveaway, but within the first 1/8th or so of the book, when I'd said for the third time that I'd give it a last chance, I decided my time is more valuable to me than being kind to a freebie.

If you've just busted your toe, or broken a plate you love, or lost two hours of work because the computer blitzed and you hadn't remembered to save anything - I get it. I can imagine how demoralising it can be, particularly on the bad days, but glad your faith sustains you.

Our heroine, Ellie, relocates from the city to the countryside in an attempt to put her life back together following a terrible car accident and a bitter romantic break up. The vivid descriptions make it come to life really well and it's one of my favorite fictional settings now.Spindrift House, Cornwall Edith Fairchild's good-for-nothing husband, Benedict, deserted her when their children were babies. In this last book in the series we pick up the community in 1914 when the country is on the cusp of war and great events are about to take place, some of which will change the occupants of Spindrift House forever. The writing is warm and evocative and you can imagine the beautiful scenery as you read, settling into the family as if you were one of them. Ellie is immensely likeable, Will is immensely gorgeous-sounding and I couldn’t help but fall a little bit in love with him, as I also did with Finn. The secrets and revelations are so well handled, and help to make the book something a little different - and I totally loved the whole theme of following a dream and making it happen.

I resolved to find my strength in being recast, and resolved to do all I can to increase awareness of, and to address, the challenges, inequity, and inequality for individuals with disability. The old clock or jukebox, works again, and plays a familiar tune, transporting the owner to a place at a particular time in their life. Philip, I have learned through your stories to embrace my imperfections for the gifts they are and now I have begun to share mine in my writing too! It has the normal elements of this kind of books, the girl that is running from a bad relationship, the guy that's a jerk most of the time but has the sweet details that make him likeable. I've always enjoyed experimenting with adding light to my sculptures, and I made several new lanterns over the last year.

The lantern above, on the left, is by Amy Cooper, an artist who makes lovely, organic, porcelain luminaries of many sizes and shapes. Letting in the Light by Charlotte Betts, the final book of the Spendrift Trilogy, does not disappoint. Noosha, thanks for sharing your brokenness insights, and the sources of wisdom that has inspired you. From the award-winning author of The Apothecary's Daughter comes the next book in the Spindrift Trilogy - a beautifully evocative, family drama, perfect for fans of Santa Montefiore, Lucinda Riley and Elizabeth Jane Howard's Cazalet Chronicles. After a quick read of the synopsis I thought it sounded like the kind of read I would enjoy and as Emma Davies is a debut author I was keen to discover her writing.
