Like Clockwork is the band's first full length collection of all new material since 2007's Era Vulgaris, as well as the band's debut release on new label partner Matador. A mournful tone of lament fuels the 10-track set, particularly on starker moments within 'The Vampyre Of Time and Memory'. I've looked at some previous posts, and would like to hear from those who have spent time with both editions. Like Clockwork was produced by Joshua Homme and QOTSA, recorded by Mark Rankin with additional engineering by Justin Smith, at Josh's studio, Pink Duck, in Burbank, California.

The core collaborators from QOTSA’s classic Songs For The Deaf are scattered across the release, Josh once again motoring across the crest of Dave Grohl’s brutal drums with Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri popping up briefly to ride sidecar. The vinyl edition offers warm sound quality that enhances the musical experience, allowing you to hear every intricate detail of the band's creative vision. Also it may be of interest to some that my version plays on four sides at 45rpm, why I have no clue, but it just sounds great.Absolutely FANTASTIC Service, bought and paid for on Friday morning and arrived on Saturday morning! And “Fairweather Friends” is a must-hear, with Homme unleashing some of his finest singing and guitar work to date as Elton John billows the whole thing with his ever-commanding voice. Not much point in paying attention to my five stars as QOTSA have been my favourite band for a while. The album captures the band's signature sound, blending mystic and dark elements with the energy of rock and roll. Only issue is a whirring sound on Like Clockwork that’s audible during the quiet introduction but it’s not too distracting.
