About this deal

If your beans are ground more finely, the brew time will take a bit longer because the steam extraction is forced through a more dense grind. DO NOT TAMP THE COFFEE OR RUSH THE BREW PROCESS. 2-3 minutes actual brew time once the coffee starts percolating out of the top chamber port is key. Espresso grind may be too fine for this pot. It should be a bit more coarse but still finely ground. Experiment and take notes on the settings for your particular grinder. My first few tries my heat was too low, so it took a total of 6 or 7 minutes to finish brewing and it didn't make much, if any, crema.) Be realistic about how much coffee you are accustomed to drinking and how many people will share it with you. Choosing the right Moka Pot size for your needs will save you from disappointment when you end up with a couple of sips of coffee instead of your usual mug.

Even though a Moka Pot does not require as much involvement in brewing coffee as Chemex or any other pour-over method, you must keep an eye on it while it bubbles on the stove. Unlike automated coffee makers, Moka Pot should not be left unattended. Leaving Moka Pot on a stove after the brewing cycle finishes can burn the coffee and your coffee pot. As others mentioned, on an electric stovetop it is a little slower to cook than the equivalent aluminum (on a gas stove I can't tell the difference) UPDATE: I am posting this to help others with finding replacement gaskets for their Bialetti Venus 6-cup moka pot. I wanted to plan ahead and have a couple gaskets on hand when my gasket eventually fails. After researching, i selected this product which, as stated in their description, is a genuine Bialetti replacement — although the gaskets are made of RUBBER, not silicone as was supplied in my original Venus moka pot.It makes a bit less liquid than aluminum if they are both filled to just below the safety valve (The decanter has plenty of room at the top for more liquid, I don't know why the reservoir is smaller) Stovetop espresso makers have the advantage of being low in waste as they don’t need paper filters. All you do is throw out the used coffee grounds, which can even be composted if you are up for it! The valve is solid - no issues. Some people have complained about a whistling noise; i can state that if you follow the instructions you will not have a problem. The valve itself is manufactured in Italy. Even though a stovetop espresso maker is not quite a perfect replacement for an espresso machine, it produces strong coffee for a fraction of the cost. So when you understand how much coffee each size produces, you can easily choose the best Moka Pot to cater to your needs.

The inner gasket and screen are very secure. The overall fit and finish (and YES it is made in China) are top notch. I’m very impressed with the quality. The design is very appealing and the unit is compact; it will be a constant companion on my counter. You may wonder if buying a larger Moka Pot and loading it only partially to brew a smaller amount of coffee would work. Unfortunately, this isn’t recommended. Measuring the correct amounts of ground coffee and water with a Moka Pot is not as easy as with a drip coffee maker. For the best experience, you’ll want to fill the Moka Pot to the recommended line. Finally, watch the gush of steam and froth at the end of the brew time — if it is too aggressive you risk turning the coffee bitter. Both Peet's® Big Bang whole bean and Lavazza Crema e Gusto (espresso grind) work wonderfully in this unit. In fact, I was surprised that the Peet's gives Lavazza a run for its money, price-wise. Simply a wonderful cup of coffee to look forward to every morning!

Cleaning: When you unscrew your pot, there should be a some brown water left in the bottom because that leftover water would've diluted your brew too much if it had gone through, and it's got a lot of fines in it, so it's not the best-tasting. This I've learned from the Moka pot video on the "Il Barista Italiano" YouTube channel, among others. How to prepare the coffee: fill the boiler up to the safety valve, fill it up with ground coffee without pressing, close the Moka pot and place it on the stovetop, as soon as Moka Express starts to gurgle, turn the fire off and coffee will be ready Because of the low position of the outlet in the pot, you get less coffee with this pot than with older Bialetti designs of similar size, and combined with the design features already mentioned I am finding my coffee quite _dis_-satisfying - not at all what I had in mind when buying a new pot! If the largest size of the Moka Pot still feels too small for you, you might consider a percolator. It is a simple stovetop coffee maker with vintage appeal, although it makes regular brew rather than strong espresso-style coffee. Things to consider when buying a Moka Pot

On a side note the replacement filter screen that comes with the gaskets is a cheap aluminum facsimile of the original stainless steel one. AVOID THIS REPLACEMENT PRODUCT. It states it is made in Italy but looks Chinese. You will be disappointed. I THINK the brew is a little less strong than aluminum. The filler basket may be just a tiny bit smaller. Using a Bialetti Moka Express can be daunting to newcomers, but once you know the basics it's easy to produce a high-quality cup every time: You can always dilute Moka coffee with hot water to make an Americano, and that could get you a 12-ounce mug of coffee even if you have the smallest 1-cup Moka Pot. This will be a more comfortable experience than drinking 12 ounces of concentrated coffee. Another Moka Pot advantage is that it works without electricity, as long as you have a heat source. Therefore, Moka Pots are great for camping trips because you can use a campfire or camping gas burner to make your brew.

New Bialetti Brikka is Made in Europe by Bialetti, the inventor of the original Moka pot and recognizable by the one and only the gentleman with moustache gracing it However, you can experiment with tailoring your home-brewed coffee to your tastes. Flavored syrups and other, more creative coffee add-ins, such as cardamom, salt, or chili pepper can take your coffee to the next level! If you thought of pouring milk into your Moka Pot to get a frothy cappuccino, you should now ditch this idea. Moka Pots are not designed to brew anything else but coffee. The milk solids will clog the metal filter and cause leaking or, worse, make your Moka Pot explode. It's sooo easy to clean with a soapy sponge but I usually just rinse it with water and it comes out spotless Add the filter and coffee - insert the filter basket into the brewer, then fill the basket with coffee
