This has an anime. The anime is a great indicator for whether you'd like the book or not. Only noticable differences between the anime and book is more of a focus on the side characters and more world building, which is a good thing. One thing to note however, is that in the book, after the stopping point of the anime, the tone gradually shifts to become more serious while still mantaining its light hearted nature. First, the story. Though simple in concept, it continues to be entertaining throughout the chapters. It's basically just a man is reborn as a child and meets people while trying to enjoy life, HOWEVER, from this point on it becomes different than the 'typical' isekai manga. The story's pretty great and expansive as a slice-of-life. If you're into political dealings, you can examine the relationships between the nobles present in the story. If you're into leveling and growing stronger, while there is less of a focus on doing so, its still everpresent in the story. If you're into research and development of slimes, this is basically the godsent book for thee. Its light hearted and comedic, which makes the serious moments a bit more chilling. When the limur birds return, both Eliaria and Ryoma use music to tame a few of them, with Ryoma also taming the Nightmare Limur Bird they previously encountered and Eliaria taming a Phantom Limur Bird. During dinner, the Jamil estate celebrate Ryoma and Eliaria's success as well as their last night together before they part ways. The next day, Eliaria and her family bid farewell to Ryoma, who promises to keep in touch with them and to visit Eliaria in three years during her break from her studies and sets to the mines to build a new home. The gods, watching over Ryoma, renew their conviction they made the right choice of reincarnating him in their world and look forward to his next adventures.

The party eventually discovers that the treants' numbers are much higher than they expected because there is an ancient treant among them, which is turning all the forest trees into more treants. With help from his companions, Ryoma slays the ancient treant and the party realizes that the enemy was in possession of a large quantity of mana crystals, which explains why it became much stronger than usual. The characters themselves are entirely enjoyable, it's lovely to see a manga handle both the reactions and feelings of characters with care, unlike many out there. The characters are each unique and have their ups and downs. The mc is often treated as a part of their family, which is completely wholesome to me.

The mc himself is a very interesting character, the way the manga handles him feels as if he is real and allows the reader to connect to him more then the average mc. While op, the mc's sole interest is to enjoy the new world, while studying slimes of course. He himself has had a bad past, something that strikes me as strangley unique in mangas, while it is not a rare situation for the mc to be in, it often doesn't affect their interactions or thoughts towards others. Our mc here is influenced by his past both emotionally and mentally. His personality is lovely, a complete change from your typical badass mc (even though they are amazing too), honestly he is a cinammon roll from the very start. In my personal view, the best part of this is mc's infatuation with slimes. All of the slimes are adorable and so unique to what other mangas often portray them as. Along with this, the mc's reactions to the slimes is simply adorable.
