About this deal

Because Delilah Metcalfe knows what is coming. A hitman. Sent from London with one objective: to finally silence the troublesome O’Brien before his corruption case can make it to court. Cozy Case Files Volume 7 (By: Donna Andrews,Diane Kelly,Ellen Crosby,Ellie Alexander,Vivien Chien,Ashley Weaver,Mindy Quigley) Little do the detective duo know that several of their cases are about to collide when identifying the whereabouts of the missing man becomes something far more sinister. I very much enjoyed and will continue recommending this series to all who love a cosy crime or indeed as a palette cleanser for those who love more gritty crime. I can’t wait for more!

Date With Danger” is the fifth novel in the “Dales Detectives” series and was released in the year 2019. This time around, Delilah and Samson are on the trail of a sheep rustler turned murderer. There were a few minor disappointments: fiction in general seems to miss out on proofreading and the text has several typos. As usual, the use of strings of 'someone doing or having done something' phrases impeded the flow: a little variation in sentence structure would make the stories read even better. And I was surprised by the characters' slowness to note that 'steward' could be 'Stuart'...! Delilah decides to consider others for the office space and eventually decides that Samson O’Brien would make as good a tenant as any. So with him moved in, things are actually looking up. She’s confident that this is a great move that is going to help her make some money and finally start getting those ends to meet. Little do the detective duo know that several of their cases are about to collide, as what appears to be a simple matter of identifying the whereabouts of the missing man becomes something far more sinister. She resides in the Yorkshire Dales a beautiful place in England that gives her plenty of inspiration for her books in her mystery series– which happen to have stories that take place in exactly the same place! Stagg has also written a few novels that were set in the French Pyrenees but is now writing crime fiction under her other pen name.

Cozy Case Files Volume 14 (By: Diane Kelly,Gigi Pandian,Ellie Alexander,Paige Shelton,Mindy Quigley,Korina Moss) I have just reviewed Date With Evil by Julia Chapman as an advanced reader copy thanks to @PanMcMillan and @NetGalley. While Samson and Delilah combine resources once more, before too long they have become embroiled in untangling this mystery which has lain at the town’s core for decades. It is a mystery that some would much prefer stay buried. I’m so happy I got into these cozy mysteries, they are delightful and the character development is spot on! They get better with each book and we get to see more and more characters that add a lot to the story – old people, a rich guy, questionable characters, all together shady characters, a fun as hell cleaner/maid, and so much more! However, as I kept reading I did get more into the swing of the current story and found it a compelling read.

Hooray!!! Not only is one of my most anticipated books in my grasp, but it didn't disappoint, love this series even more for having this book in it! The case, however, proves to be more complex than even they had imagined. While Delilah is undercover at a local shoot to better keep tabs on the errant husband, she is on the scene for a fatal incident that sends the Yorkshire town into turmoil. Soon the detective duo are embroiled in a far more serious investigation than mere infidelity. Deceit is rife in Bruncliffe and it may well prove deadly . . . I have not read this series before and what an omission that has turned out to be. I thoroughly enjoyed Date with Evil, which is an amusing cosy with a sharp edge that doesn’t shy away from the worst in human nature.

Oblivious to his impending date with fate, Samson is busy juggling a number of cases at the Dales Detective Agency. Too busy, in fact, to notice his partner behaving oddly. This was a great read and is definitely cosy crime with a very hard centre. All of the elements of a standard cosy crime novel are present in this latest instalment of the Dales Detective. We have a close knit community with a colourful cast of supporting characters who stay just the right side of stereotypes, there is the local coffee shop where gossip is exchanged and the amateur detective who is struggling to keep her agency going. However, although the crimes initially seem minor, we soon find that something very serious is going on in the Dales and the book has some very dark scenes.

Julia Chapman is an author living north of England. It also happens to be a pen name used by the real life human being known as Julia Stagg.I love the way that the author weaves all of the different strands together to create a multi-layered mystery that covers some very serious issues. Delilah and Samson are both likeable protagonists and I enjoyed the inclusion of Nina and Delilah’s nephew Nathan in the detective agency. My favourite character is still Ida though. She initially seems a bit of a caricature but rapidly becomes a character that you care about. The combat trousers are a great touch. Date With Malice” is the second novel in the “Dales Detectives” series and was released in the year 2017. When Mrs. Shepherd shows up at the Dales Detective Agency one morning in December, convinced that somebody is trying to kill her, and Samson dismisses all her fears as only the ramblings of one confused old lady. After a sequence of disturbing incidents at Fellside Court retirement home, he starts to wonder if there could be something to these claims that she is making after all. I have grown very fond of the cast of characters and the well-described locations and had been eagerly awaiting this episode. It tied the narrative strands from the previous books together very well, though I still don't understand exactly how international crime and money laundering work! the mystery here is how is it all going to be resolved. The stakes are high, the danger greater than ever as the villain of the piece sees their plans fast unravelling, but will the Dales Detective Agency succeed in discovering the perpetrator, and will Bruncliffe be left unscathed, or will the village be scarred forever by the fallout of this last(?) investigation? Cozy Case Files Volume 5 (By: Carolyn Haines,Donna Andrews,Carola Dunn,Sheila Connolly,Ellie Alexander,Susan C. Shea,Judith Flanders,Mindy Quigley,Auralee Wallace)
