About this deal

Unlike plenty of other board game adaptations of video games, these figurines stay true to the video game in their designs right down to the accessories and clothing they wear. Such a small inclusion but with a brilliant nod to the source material is sure to make any Dead by Daylight fan happy. Developer Behaviour Interactive has partnered with Level 99 Games, acclaimed publisher of video game-inspired board and card games, to create a board game based on the hit multiplayer horror. The campaign has two tiers of pledge reflecting the standard and collector's edition, the latter featuring over twice the content of the base game. Experienced players can customize their characters with unique builds, for an ever-evolving play experience.

Dead by Daylight has released tons of new chapters with new survivors and killers since it first came out, but old-school players will love the inclusion of the entire original roster in the board game. Favorite survivors like Meg Thomas, Nea Karlson, and Dwight Fairfield are included along with their respective in-game perks. Killer mains will get to play staple characters like the Trapper, the Hillbilly, and the Wraith with their powers easily recognizable even in board game format. As fans of the original video game, we worked hard to capture the tension between the Survivors and the Killer on every turn," said D. Brad Talton Jr, the board game's designer. "The moment when you commit to your move and then have to hold your breath while the Killer makes their play - to me that's the essence of Dead by Daylight." Board games have always offered a mix of togetherness, interactivity, and competition among friends and family. These factors have kept board games alive amidst the rise and constant improvement of video games. They’ve even entwined themselves in the video game industry and Dead by Daylight is getting its own shot off the screen and on the table. We’re here with a list of awesome things you should know about this upcoming adaptation. 10. Gameplay & GoalsDead by Daylight is an asymmetrical horror game where four Survivors have to try and escape a terrifying realm of horror, while being pursued by one menacing Killer. The game is a love letter to the horror genre, with characters from Saw, Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil 2, Scream, and other horror classics showing up on the roster, alongside an original cast of characters. On Tuesday, developer Level 99 announced Dead by Daylight: The Board Game. As a Survivor, you'll need to explore and find generators, then spend time repairing them. Repair 4 generators, then repair the exit gates, and the Survivors win as a team! The survivors each take their turn before the killer, who must anticipate the survivors’ movements but has a greater number of movement actions to make up for chasing the bigger group. Both survivors and killers must play a movement card on their turn. Dead by Daylight: The Board Game follows the one-versus-many format of the video game. Two to four people control survivors - seven characters from the video game are included in the base game, with 17 in the expanded Collector’s Edition - while one player takes on the role of the killer chasing them. No solo or full cooperative mode will be included, Level 99 told Dicebreaker. Dead by Daylight: The Board Game contains high quality and carefully crafted game components including figures, cards with illustrations from the game and a game board representing the game field. The design of the figurines and game components is faithful to the video game original, and the characters' skills have identical graphics to their video game counterparts.

It's not something you want to do; it feels bad, and it's bad for the team,” Talton said. “So you definitely want to dodge the killer where you can.” The Dead by Daylight board game may see future expansions that bring the latest killers from the video game to the tabletop, but not if they make for a worse game, publisher Level 99 Games has said. When an adaptation of any source material gets created, the first thing fans question is its dedication to the original. Have no fear. The board game retains Dead by Daylight’s iconic asymmetrical play style with one player assuming the role of the Killer and between two and four other players becoming Survivors.

4. Miniature Figurines

The killers also reflect their unique abilities in the video game, from foes able to inhibit survivors’ movement to those able to throw survivors around the board. Six will be in the standard version of the game, with an additional ten in the Collector’s Edition - including all of the characters up to the All-Kill DLC released for Dead by Daylight last March. Players will be able to play as familiar faces; all original survivors and killers from Dead by Daylight prior to the release of The Artist will be available as minis. Unfortunately, licensed characters will not be available as playable characters, nor will their perks appear in the game. All players select their moves for the turn simultaneously, and reveal them one by one as the round progresses. The Killer always goes last, and gets to take two turns—this allows them a lot of leeway to react to the Survivors, and makes the reveal tense until the very last second. As a Survivor, plot your moves, coordinate with your allies, and repair generators to power the exit and escape. While hooked survivors can be rescued by their companions, like the video game, Dead by Daylight: The Board Game will not feature permanent player elimination or death. Instead, players simply miss a turn while hooked, waiting to be rescued by their allies.
