About this deal

For use with 140RC when using an Ei168Rc RadioLINK base, 160e when using and Ei100MRF RadioLINK + module, Ei3000 series when using an EI3000MRF SmartLINK module or any RadioLINK enabled CO alarms. The Ei168RC is a short range device using a transceiver to transmit, receive and repeat the RadioLINK RF protocol. This ensures a robust “mesh” of RF signals and reliable paths of communication.

The most common source of false alarms in smoke detectors is contamination (such as dust and small insects) within the sensor chamber. Cleaning the unit by either vacuuming around the central detection chamber or blowing it out with the cold setting on a hair dryer normally resolves this issue. In an interlinked system when one unit detects smoke, all alarms sound. To silence the alarms in case of a false alarm, press the hush button on the unit that has detected the smoke. This will silence all interlinked alarms.House Code: Operate the ‘House Code’ switch on all RadioLINK units in the system – see the instructions supplied with other RadioLINK units being used. The green LED on the cover of the Ei428 will change to red and flash slowly, this indicates that it will receive the unique serial numbers being sent by all other RadioLINK units in ‘House Code’. The number of flashes of the LED indicates the number of units in the system, The Ei428 will return to normal standby mode automatically after 15 minutes. Pressing the ‘House Code’ switch again will return it to normal standby immediately. The radio interlinked smoke alarms of the Ei140 series alarms, while having been fitted by an electrician, are not interconnecting. Solution

How to stop beeping from Ei / Aico mains powered smoke and heat alarms Ei141, Ei144, Ei146, Ei150, Ei151, Ei154, Ei156, Ei161, Ei164, Ei166 Beeping or chirping is normally due to low battery power in the alarm. This beeping most commonly starts at night due to the drop in temperature causing a decrease in battery power.

It would appear that the system has been house coded incorrectly or something is disturbing the signal. If the units have not yet been house coded, the instructions supplied with the unit should be followed to do this. In most situations this will resolve the problem. One of the Ei168 radio bases flashes amber light every 10 seconds. All other bases in the group are fine. Solution Here are some common questions we have been asked by our customers about Ei Electronics and Aico (Ei’s UK operation) mains powered smoke alarms and heat alarms through our fire safety forum. The Ei168RC also supports remote Test, Silence and Locate messages coming from an Ei Electronics RF device. Range: The type of building will be the major limiting factor e.g. the number and type of walls/ceilings that the radio signal has to pass through. As a guide, 30m should be the maximum distance between any of the RadioLINK units in the system.

Units are in ‘Factory Code’ mode when received (they will all communicate with each other). They must be ‘House Coded’ to eliminate the risk of adjacent properties communicating with each other. After ‘House Coding’ they will only communicate with other RadioLINK units coded at the same time. Features built-in tamper proof Rechargeable Vanadium Pentoxide lithium standby cells, capable of lasting at least 10 years and powering the module initially for at least 2 months in the event of mains power failure. The cell manufacturer endorses a minimum 10-year life expectation for the rechargeable cells, which are activated by operating the battery switch inside the module. Ei Electronics and Aico products have usually a 5 year manufacturer’s warranty during which they will be repaired or replaced free of charge if suffering from faults or defects caused by manufacturing issues. Aico’s telephone number is 01691 664100. They deal with warranty cases for the mains powered ranges. Smoke alarm starts to beep in the middle of the night A RadioLINK Manual Call Point, Ei407 and remote control switches Ei450, Ei412 and Ei411H are also available for use in the system. See separate specification sheet(s) for further information.

Eliminates the need for any cabling between the Ei428 and the smoke, heat and CO alarms used in the system. Please let us know should you like to discuss anything and we’ll get you in touch with an electrician who can provide a professional advice!

You may find this range of videos, showing how to change batteries and detector heads, useful. We also offer replacement smoke detector heads so that you can change your alarm without the need to call in an electrician. General smoke alarm problems For most Ei Electronics mains powered alarms a replacement kit is available - this contains an original Ei replacement alarm which is compatible with the old system and contains instructions on how to install. It provides wireless interconnect between alarms, i.e. when one alarm is triggered, all alarms in the system sound. Add to quote” – this option allows to you gather items together and ask us for a no obligation quote. We’ll do our best to improve our already competitive prices where possible.

Interruptions of the mains power can be due to several reasons, including incorrect wiring (e.g. if the power supply comes from the lighting system and the alarm is incorrectly wired to the switched part of the circuit or when neutral/earth wiring are reversed), tripped fuses/circuit breakers, loose wires and general power failure. Electrical spikes can also cause false alarms or damage the smoke alarms. Smoke detector is off the ceiling and the battery has been removed but the beeping continues
