About this deal

On the other hand, mature redheads are wanted by heroes. Being Truth in Television varies between individuals, but No Real Life Examples, Please! Brendan Reid: Yeah, it's hard to argue with results, right, and when I was getting started, I was losing about a kilo a week for the first few weeks. And even after sort of about a month or so I suppose I was thinking, “Ah, this could be anything, this could just be a total coincidence”. I was seeing the results, but I'd had it so deeply ingrained into my brain beforehand that low carb was wrong, that it does not work, that I was struggling to believe what I was actually seeing on the scales. I was losing a meaningful amount of weight for the first time in my entire life and all I had to do was exactly that which all of the experts up until then had told me exactly not to do. So it was such a mental turn around. Everything is just upside down, you know. Nothing makes sense anymore. Your whole perception of reality is challenged when you, when you find that you know such a thing that you're told is wrong in every conceivable way, is exactly what is actually working for me.

Circle of Magic: Trisana "Tris" Chandler has curly red hair (her friend Briar calls her "Coppercurls"), gray eyes, and wears spectacles. She believes herself to be fat and is called "Fatty" a few times by some of the series' crueler characters. Before she learned control over her magic, strange things would happen when she got angry or emotional, such as causing it to hail indoors or to strike lightning nearby. Was I depressed? That’s hard for me to answer because it was all I had ever known. Being fat was my normal. The consequences of that was my normal."Fruits, vegetables, grains. All of the things that dietary guidelines the world over continue to recommend as they always have, and yet for me, the very same things that appear to have instead contributed to my weight issues from the very start.

I do not find images of nude adults, adults engaged in sexual acts, or other sexual material to be offensive or objectionable. Dr Lucy Burns: Absolutely. And listeners as you know, Mary and I are always saying that being overweight is not your fault. It isn't. We have been taught to eat food that doesn't always help us with fat storage and there's so much misinformation out there about what is going to be helpful for losing weight. And one of the biggest things that comes up from time to time is you know, juice cleanses as being something that is going to a) detox your liver and b) help you lose weight. And you know, we'll talk a bit further about that in the podcast, but that's like, just absolute rubbish. So Brendan, tell us a little bit further what happened then? So you were doing, as you said you're a good student, so you're a good learner, wanting to please, listening, seeing the experts and eating your grains and fruit salad and then presumably, you got thin doing that. I had a good sulk about it for a few days. Then I decided the only way I was going to prove him wrong was by trying it. And if it proves to be the end of me, that’ll teach him. If I’m going down, I’m going to take this guy with me."

It is a weight the 43-year-old Dunedin software developer attained in just 15 months, after decades of obesity, merciless taunts, failed diets and feelings of shame. It is a weight he has maintained for the past five years, by going against commonly given health advice. Add a little more oil, turn the heat up to medium and add in the sliced ginger and shallots. We love shallots for their mild, sweet flavor but if you don’t have them you could just as easily use the same amount of thinly sliced onions or leeks. Once the shallots are soft and beginning to turn golden, add the hoisin sauce and let it sizzle in the pot for just a minute to allow the flavors to bloom. Let the hoisin sizzle in the pot for a bit before adding the liquids. Dr Lucy Burns: And I'm Dr Lucy Burns. Welcome to this episode of Real Health and Weight Loss. Good morning, lovely listeners, it's Dr Lucy here. This week I am without my fabulous Dr Mary, but I have another wonderful, wonderful guest for us to chat with and you'll notice that on our podcast, we don't have many men. I think that Brendan might be our third. But he has such a wonderful story that many of you will be interested to hear and potentially resonate with, and I think it's a story of hope for many of us as well. So I am super excited to introduce to you today, Brendan Reid, friend, and thank you for coming on the podcast.

In The Cinderella Murder, Nicole is naturally a strawberry blonde and was a shy, dorky girl with little self-confidence as a teen; she tended to be so focused on her studies she didn't have much room to figure out who she was beyond that. Her more glamorous and outgoing roommate Madison tended to look down on her, though her other roommate Susan was protective of her and even tried to set her up with a classmate. As an adult, Nicole is more confident and comfortable in her own skin, and dyes her hair dark brown. Reid has written and self-published a book about his life and his dietary experiences, The Fat Ginger Nerd - A Weight Loss Story. In late 2017 I experimented with a few slightly more liberal meal options which resulted in a regain of about 5kg across 3 months. After eliminating those options again and then introducing some time-restricted eating in early 2018, that gain was reversed in a matter of weeks.

I was convinced I wasn’t likely to live a long life ... so I thought ‘let’s just get out into the world and live what life I can hope for’." That, as of the time of writing, means I’ve been living in maintenance mode now for a full five years. It was literally New Year’s Eve of 2016 when I stepped on those long-suffering scales of mine, and they returned me a value of 82kg/180lb for the first time in too long a time, representing a full 50kg/111lb lost on low carb from a starting weight of 132kg/291lb; and that doesn’t include the additional 5kg/11lb I’d already lost beforehand, from my original peak of 137kg/302lb. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow is presented as a bookish nerd with considerable computer skills, dowdily dressed and easily intimidated by more popular girls in school. Willow becomes much more confident in college, finally finding a place that respects her intellect, and to show that, she has embraced the redness of her hair by having dyed it a brighter red. Bridgerton: The Featheringtons are treated mostly as uncouth pariahs, and all of the women have dark red hair.Dr Lucy Burns: Oh, absolutely. Now, tell us a bit about your book. I love the name, so I'd love you to share with the listeners the name of your book and explain perhaps the title for them because it's a goodie. The book tells the story of my own personal weight loss journey. It is largely told as a memoir, offering insight into various aspects of the first four decades of my life, where, for 90% of that time, I was fatter than 90% of those around me. Dr Lucy Burns: Yeah, and I think this is the word you know, epiphany. So many people use that. They go, “Oh my god, it's like an epiphany”. They just suddenly can't believe it. Averted with most of the rest of the (notably redheaded) Weasley family. Fred and George are very popular at Hogwarts, Ginny seems to come into her own as she gets more comfortable in her skin, Charlie works with dragons, and Bill is - as Harry succinctly put it once - just cool. Molly is also quite well-liked, even if she can be overbearing. And now, here I am, having proven those experts wrong. Having since lost more than 50 kilograms – that’s over 110 pounds – after figuring things out for myself, in my own way, in my own time. I’ve remained weight stable now for five years and counting, and during that time I’ve had plenty of opportunity to reflect and to write of my experience.
