About this deal

KIT is a cool-looking wireless IR remote extender kit. It uses a similar working principle as the previously reviewed StarTech IREXT2 but has a much cooler design. Things we like Nextronics XL is a dual-band IR remote extender with an extended range between the receiver and remote control (up to 30ft). It is compatible with most IR-controlled devices. The installation is simple and the performance is flawless. Things we don’t like The extender delivers flawless performance with minimal delay. It’s compatible with all IR controlled audio and video equipment. It’ll work with all the well-known brands including Sony, Yamaha, LG, Apple, Cisco, Logitech, Marantz, etc.

Solution: An IR Extender can route the IR signal from your remote control so you are still able to control your theater even though it is out of the line of sight. Choosing an IR Extender The installation process is pretty straightforward. You are supposed to place the receiver close to your TV. It has to be within the line of sight so you can aim the remote at it. The IR emitter has to be attached to the device you want to control and has to be in the line of sight of the ‘’IR eye’’ of that device. Or, you can hide the IR emitter behind the device you want to control and then use the included color-coded extension cable and make sure that the ‘’IR eye’’ on that cable is in the line of sight of the ‘’IR eye’’ of the device you want to control. The IR receiver and IR emitter communicate with each other on radio frequency (915-917MHz) and don’t have to be within the line of sight. Extending IR signal is only half of the problem. At Sewell we have designed multiple IR extenders for a variety of different set-ups. All of our IR Extenders are dual band and should work for most devices. Here are some questions you should be asking and a few recommendations for those key factors in setups. Questions to ask about your Setup: How far do I need to go? Imagine you have just built your dream theater with the latest cable box, a new Blu Ray player, and a great sound system. Obviously, you don’t want it all directly under your TV because it is too clunky and the wires are always messy. So you move it into a cabinet either nearby or in a different room.

A: Try directing the remote towards the device it controls and place an obstacle (like a book or a piece of wood) between the remote and the device you want to control. If you are still able to control the device, it’s probably RF remote. If nothing happens, it’s probably IR remote. IR remotes require a clear line of sight to work, while the RF remotes don’t. Q: What is the best IR remote extender in 2021? A: If you have an IR remote (and you probably do), then no. IR signal requires a clear line of sight between the transmitter (remote) and the receiver (the device you want to control). IR remote won’t work if there is any obstacle between the remote and the piece of audio/video equipment you want to control. Q: What to pay attention to when buying an IR remote extender? I also removed the HDTV HookUp IRS6A because, while it was the least conspicuous model of them all, the installation just isn’t worth the effort and convenience (unless you’re a good electrician), and the price doesn’t really do justice to the effort either (it’s about as expensive as some of the wireless models). A: You can extend your IR remote range in just a few minutes by attaching an IR remote extender kit (IR receiver and IR emitter) to the equipment you want to control. Q: Do TV remotes work through the wood? Nextronics XL comes in a simple box. It’s basically one cable with three ends. On one end, there’s a USB connector for power supply. On the other end, there’s an IR receiver and on the third end, there’s a tiny IR emitter. The distance between the emitter and receiver is 25ft, which gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to installation.

Is there a clear path to your devices? Is there a wall or cabinet in your way? We have a few accessories that are able to fix some of those problems. Use an IR repeater kit any time you want to put your equipment somewhere that you can’t comfortably point the remote at it from where you’re sitting. Imagine yourself in an amazing entertainment room. You've got your large, flat screen television, surround sound speaker system, and high-definition Blu-ray player. Much of your equipment is installed inside a heavy-duty console cabinet for storage underneath your television, preventing the room from looking overly cluttered. Add to this a comfortable couch, popcorn at the ready, and several infrared remotes on that side table right next to you. You may think you're all set, but what if you have trouble controlling your other connected devices with your remotes through the cabinet? What if you have additional speakers or perhaps an additional monitor in an adjacent room and your infrared signals just aren't strong enough to reach that far? Just the same, what if that console cabinet supporting your television and housing your Blu-ray player is made from heavy wood and fully encloses your equipment, making it difficult for the remote signals to reach everything? For any and all of these reasons, an infrared remote extender can help solve this problem for you. Infrared repeater system controls your ir remote controlled devices that are hidden behind doors or in other rooms. kit controls up to 10 devices - expandable to 12 devices (additional ir emitters sold separately)

You can only compare up to four products at a time.

The kit is compatible with all kinds of IR-controlled devices including AV receivers, smart TVs, cable boxes, DVD and Blu-ray players, etc. The performance is flawless – no delays or missed commands. Things we don’t like Out of the box, this device allows you to control up to 8 different devices. The maximum number of devices you can control is 12 but you will need to buy two additional IR receiver cables and two IR emitter cables. Things we don’t like

Depending on the distance the signal needs to be extended by, there are several methods to achieve the same result. For shorter distances or single device operation, a wired version such as the BAFX Repeater Cable should be sufficient. For longer distances, a wireless repeater like the Sewell Direct BlastIR will give you more range, however, the transmitter and the receiver still need a line of sight with each other. By converting the infrared signal into a radio frequency, the Next Generation Remote and the SIIG Pro can send the signal over much greater distances and even allow devices to be controlled from other rooms or from outside. Some remote extenders are hybrids – their work is based on the combined use of RF (radio frequencies) and IR (infrared frequencies). They are convenient since they don’t require a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. You can typically answer this question very easily by looking to see if the IR extender is Single Band or Dual Band. Dual Band typically is able to extend IR for the most common products like Blu Ray players and projectors, and if it has RC-MM protocol then it should be able to control majority of cable boxes. What is the difference between dual band or single band?A: IR remote extender is a simple device that allows you to control your audio/video equipment (Blu-ray players, DVD players, cable boxes, streaming boxes, AV receivers) even when there’s no clear line of sight between the remote and that equipment. Q: How do I extend my IR remote range?

First, you should know that, while hiding all of your equipment and using a repeater does produce a cleaner space/look for your home theater, this is only a cosmetic upgrade. If you have six devices that each have their own dedicated remotes, all using IR, you still have a problem: those six (or however many) remotes, will need their own IR repeaters! The next device is similar to the first extender on our list (Sewell BlastIR Wireless Pro), but it’s not as versatile and doesn’t support multizone control. The good thing about this kit is that the transmitter and receiver don’t have to be connected through wires and can communicate through walls and wood (they communicate via RF). Things we like The extender is compatible with a wide range of cable boxes including Verizon Fios cable boxes. If the device is compatible with your cable box, it will deliver flawless performance. Things we don’t like Previous users have experienced certain compatibility issues with Yamaha HTR 6140 AV receiver and Arris DCX 3520E-M high-definition DVR. An IR (infrared) repeater is a device that transmits the IR signal from a remote control to somewhere it wouldn’t otherwise be able to reach. If you store equipment in a closed cabinet, or in another room entirely, an IR repeater kit can reproduce the signal there and allow you to keep components hidden.

Ir Extenders

When it comes to the setup you want to control, you have to think about the distance you have to cover, the number of devices you want to control and their location, and the number of available power outlets (or USB ports). Q: How do I connect my IR extender? Ir repeater controls up to 10 home theater devices kept behind closet doors or in a closed cabinet with ir infrared remote control extender repeater system. this product allows you to control a/v equipment with your existing ir remote controller, such as: amplifier, cable box, stereo receiver, satellite tv receiver, cd player, dvd player, blu-ray player, etc The included mini batteries don’t last as long as regular AAA batteries and you have to replace them every 2-3 months. The good news is that you don’t have to buy batteries since they are rechargeable. A: There are two main things to consider when buying an IR remote extender – the type of extender and the setup you want to control.
