About this deal

I just love the characters in this series and having six of them have one of the happiest days of their lives together really warmed by heart. But you can’t have a trip to Pelican with drama and murder and Ellen Byron encases these characters in another fantastic mystery. I've read my fair share of heart stopping, nothing can top this books. This goes right up there. I could not predict a minute of it. Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review. Cyprian at the tree grove Hazel runs to after hearing her father might not have long to live.-- This was random, as she didn't run to this grove before now, either.

While we're on the subject of Richelieu, tell me again how he has managed to survive 400+ years without someone recognizing him as THE Cardinal Richelieu? The author tells us that he doesn't have to have an all-out war to gain ultimate power because he has spent centuries putting his own men in very powerful places. Whaaaa? And just HOW has he done this without someone noticing that he keeps on living century after century without aging? This is just one teeny tiny example of my "huh?" moments throughout this series. I realize it's a vampire book, so of course NOT REAL, but sometimes I feel the author asks a bit much in the way of suspending disbelief. to discover. There is no substructure of essential "thoughts,""purposes," and "desires" that can clarify the I genuinely wanted to like this book. I went into reading this book with a lot of excitement. The concept is great and SO interesting. The delivery is piss poor. This book just frustrated me. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and the town of Pelican, Louisiana, is buzzing about the new restaurant getting ready to open. It’s the latest from celebrity chef Phillippe Chanson, and this one will have an emphasis on Cajun food. However, Phillippe isn’t ingratiating himself with his new community, and several people have fights with him, including Maggie Crozat’s friend, JJ, the owner of a popular local restaurant, and Maggie’s own mother. The night of the restaurant’s official opening is more explosive than anyone planned, and in the aftermath, someone is dead. Will Maggie figure out what is going on?

Cajun Kiss of Death is the latest Cajun Country Mystery written by Ellen Byron, set to launch in August 2021. Maggie and Bo are newly married, and they are remarking how they've had way too many murders in Pelican, Louisiana the last few years; they never should've talked about it. Soon after, a competitor to Junie's restaurant opens and causes havoc around town. When the celebrity owner is found murdered, several locals looks guilty, given how the man had treated them. Maggie knows it was an outsider, but how can she prove it?

Unfortunately, I couldn't read this in big goes, (due to a certain sporting event which we are now not mentioning), so read it in little bursts. I think, had I had the time, I would have flown through this in a couple of sittings. You kind of get hooked into it quite early on, and I very grudgingly had to set it aside to watch our boys. It was a good read, suspenseful, detailed. The characters were good, well rounded and as I say, I enjoyed having a police force to get into. I'm not going to I have already grab the spin-offs. (Both of which are about 2 out of my 4 favourites.) I couldn't choose who I loved more. I can't spoil as some names are need to know basis. I have always loved my time in Pelican with Maggie and her family at the B&B or at Maggie’s other job at another plantation that is used as a muesuem. I have loved follow along with Bo and Maggie’s relationship and how sweet she has always been to his autistic boy who had a talent for art. Maggie is an artist and seen his great talent and helped him with it. So it was very bittersweet to see this one end, but I have to say I really liked how she ends the series which is why I know for sure it was ending, she had a nice epilogue that if you have read the who series you would know all the characters mentioned, etc. I am also going to miss Gopher and Jolie the dogs! The author has a new series starting next year and I just hope I enjoy it as much as I have this one! Kiss of Death is the second book in the Kiss Trilogy by Debbie Viguie. This series is a very unique and defining series among the ranks of stories that feature and deal with vampires and vampire lore. It is a story that is both touching and challenging, and once you stare into its captivating eyes, you will already be risking all and feeling the effects of your own inner struggle when the real bite of this story begins to take hold of you. Also present is a ghostwriter named Dyer Gossmer, who's penning Philippe's autobiography, but is forbidden to put in any juicy stuff. This galls the author, who's hoping to revive his declining career. THE AUTHOR: Paul Finch is a former cop and journalist, now full-time writer. Having originally written for the television series THE BILL plus children's animation and DOCTOR WHO audio dramas, he went on to write horror, but is now best known for his crime / thriller fiction.
