About this deal

Other than that, the cable, although nothing spectacular, is a good one in terms of build and comfort. It’s unnecessarily long for a portable over-ear model, but it’s fine. Today we finally have a beautiful headphone that actually looks good and is fun to hold in hand. With a combination of red wood, brown leather and silver metal in the build, Sivga Oriole finally looks like it can take on the likes of Bowers & Wilkins, Master & Dynamic or Bang & Olufsen. The design and aesthetic of the Oriole is actually better than most models existent on the market today, so it instantly gained some big points from both me and my photographer girlfriend.

If you're all about that bass, you'll want to look out for dynamic drivers that displace lots of air, leading to a bassy soundstage. If detail is everything, look for large frequency ranges –20Hz to 20 kHz is the standard, so anything larger than this may allow for more detail in the highs and lows, though it depends on connection types. Lower treble is similar on both headphones. They both can get sibilant with female vocals. But upper treble is more relaxed on TH610s without sacrificing air. They still feel airy and not as fatiguing as Orioles. The headphones have a flexible design too that folds down for easy portability and are very comfortable. But it's the hi-res audio quality that shines above all else, which makes them our top choice for uncompromising audiophiles who want headphones that can do anything while sounding supreme. But, of course, there are limitations and the sound can feel constrained at times compared to pricier options. They also don’t support hi-res LDAC or have automated control settings. The buttons are easy to find though and the extremely lightweight design makes them one of the most comfortable to wear for long periods. And all this for one of the most affordable prices on the market? These are a steal. On my very first listen, I thought the bass sounded a little loose and boomy. I don’t remember the song I was listening to but my initial impressions were of a bass-centric tuning more akin to the Sivga Robin. However, after just a couple of hours of breaking in, I realized the sound was fairly neutral. I guess either the headphones or my brain needed a little time to align. The Luan’s fidelity exceeds any other competing similarly-priced headphones I currently have, except for one. The only actual competition for the Luan is the FiiO FT3. However, this type of upper midrange tilt sounds great for female vocals and acoustic instruments. Furthermore, it adds to the clarity and presence of Oriole’s midrange presentation. If you like a brighter midrange, you’ll probably enjoy this one. But if you prefer a rich, saturated midrange then you’ll need to look elsewhere. Treble

You might prefer more industrial or professional-looking headphones, but there’s no doubt that the design of the Oriole is unique. The treble presentation is something I would call relaxed but well-defined. Once again, the resolution level is very impressive, and it gives a great micro-detail performance which is not expected from the price.

Sivga is committed to making refined products and producing different headphones. Made up of teams who worked in the audio industry earlier in China, they adhere to the use of traditional craftsmanship, coupled with the selection of high-quality natural solid wood as the material for the housing. The simple fact is that the B&W PX8 are expensive. There are good, tangible, understandable reasons for this –a new carbon cone 40mm drive unit replaces the bio-cellulose driver in the more affordable Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2 and the die-cast aluminum arms, diamond-cut bright metal detailing and Nappa leather trim elevates the build to high-end territory. They feel, as well as look, a cut above other headphones. Sivga Oriole vs. Fostex TH610TH610s have a warm neutral tonality with a bit of spice in the treble region. Orioles have noticeably warmer tonality. Buildwise I’d say Orioles give more confidence. I’ve heard horror stories about the yolks of the Fostex headbands breaking. TH610s are slightly harder to drive but still quite easily driven.
