Don’t pull the cord tight – leave a loop at the top (as in the image below). Then pass the needle through the loop. Just like blanket stitch. Then I added another third of the cord to the dye bath and left it 1 minute. Then I rinsed the cord in the sink until the water ran clear and left the cord out to dry. This gives an ombre effect so the bowl has dark color in the center, lighter color near the edges, and then no color on the sides. Note that rope will sink into the dye bath, but the cotton piping floats so you may need to use something to weigh it down. Stitch all the way around the outer piece through all layers using a 1/4″ seam allowance leaving an opening at the bottom for turning. Add the bottom exactly the same way the you stitched the sides. Place the bottom right sides together and stitch using ladder stitch. Then open the basket to the lining side and stitch the lining using ladder stitch. Slip stitch the outer bottom to the sides Ladder stitch the bottom to the sides

You’ll keep working half double crochets but instead of working through the top 2 loops like normal, you’ll work under all 3 loops of the stitch below. Round 7: ch 1, *(sc in next 5 sts, inc in next st), repeat from * around, join with a sl st to the first sc. (42)
