Will takes a central role in Season 5 As sad as it'll be to say goodbye to Eleven, Hopper and company, it doesn't sound like Stranger Things will officially end with season 5. In their letter, the Duffer brothers teased the possibility of telling more stories in this universe, so we could see film and TV spin-offs in the future.

On May 6th, the Duffers wrote on the Stranger Writers account that ruled out any filming taking place without the involvement of the writer’s posting:

With a year of filming planned and potentially not starting until the end of Summer or even into the Fall, any hope of a 2024 release date is over; we now expect Stranger Things season 5 to be released on Netflix sometime in the Spring or Summer of 2025 at the absolute earliest.Elaborating on the duo's plan for season 5, Ross Duffer told The Wrap: "We do have an outline for Season 5 and we pitched it to Netflix and they really responded well to it. We wrote it during the pandemic... [but] I haven’t even honestly looked at it because it’s just too overwhelming. We'll get into it." According to star Joe Quinn (per Digital Spy), who plays Eddie Munson, we should prepare ourselves for a "mad symphony of chaos and horror", with the craziness of Stranger Things season 4 "turned up to 11". Speaking to SFX Magazine (via Digital Spy), Matt Duffer said: "We haven't told anyone our plans, not even Netflix! We have some ideas. In terms of if we were to do any sort of spinoff, or any continuation ofStranger Things, for us the bar was always 'Is the idea exciting enough that we feel the pull of wanting to do it again?' I want to feel the pull of 'God I really want to do this. I feel really, really excited about this.' So that's why we're being careful about what that is and whether we move forward with it or not." This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together. Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected.
