About this deal

It bills itself as a romance, but when you’re a chronic romance reader like me and have read thousands of these things, I can easily tell the pacing here is off and it doesn’t hit the usual beats expected in the genre. This happens sometimes when a book is trying to be nOt LiKe OtHeR rOmAnCeS, something we sometimes see in trad pub romances that lean into lit fic so that the book will be taken more seriously. But if I wanted lit fic, I’d read lit fic, and not a poorly structured romance book, you know what I mean? The DTwP story is a fairly typical one in the world of medicine. Anecdotal reports indicated a possible adverse reaction to the whole-cell pertussis vaccine. Researchers therefore looked at the question in various ways and eventually concluded that no significant signal or pattern could be detected. In short, there does appear to be an increased incidence of adverse events, such as irritability and maybe even febrile seizures, but no evidence of long term neurological harm. Nevertheless, a newer safer version of the vaccine, the acellular pertussis vaccine, became available and was adopted because it was probably safer. Even still researchers continue to drill down into the question of pertussis vaccine safety. A sensual love story about art and passion . . . emotional and heart-aching.” —Ashley Poston, New York Times bestselling author of The Dead Romantics Exposure Basics . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 41 The teacher-student trope gets an unusually thoughtful treatment in Lee’s first adult romance, which offers a more serious look at the decision to care for another person and the challenging journey of learning how to relate to one’s past.”– Library Journal

Not sure anyone could have told me that a romance between a transman and a pansexual lapsed Hasidic woman, both of whom are recovering addicts, would be one of my favorite romances of the year. The book is romantic and sexy but also filled with lives that seem real and interesting. Ohhhh this book. Just completely and devastatingly beautiful. Lee calls this “rom-angst” and it is the perfect description for this adult contemporary romance that just ripped my heart out. I’m completely in love with both Ely and Wyatt. My favorite romance books are about broken people who find each other and heal both separately and with each other and this one adds art and Jewish rep and it’s just like….was this made for me?? This book is a MUST read for parents and parents-to-be. If it has ever even occured to you that the medical system is not infallible, this book will open your eyes to a reality that most people would prefer to ignore. Vaccinations DO cause temporary and permanent damage to children every year in this country, and many of the diseases against which we are vaccinated are not as frightening as the damage caused by the vaccinations themselves. After many years of saying that the pertussis vaccine was safe and that the parents were wrong to blame their misfortune on the vaccine; the pertussis vaccine was weakened/attenuated.brimming with tenderness, a shot in the dark paints a portrait of two broken individuals whose sharp edges come together perfectly just like in kintsugi. Comparisons done in children less then [ sic] 2-years-old show in general about twice as high incidence of adverse effects following the whole-cell than the acellular vaccine. The biggest rate of proportions (RR = 4,75) was observed for high pitch cry. There was no significant difference in incidence of the most severe reactions, including encephalopathy and nonfebrile seizures, and there was no significant difference in allergic reactions. The Fixture . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 88 We argue that these reactions may have occurred in metabolically vulnerable children, specifically those with defects in fatty acid oxidation. In these children the combination of anorexia and fever that could be caused by the vaccine may have resulted in hypoglycemic episodes and possibly death. We believe that this association was not detected because these conditions were not recognized at the time and because these conditions are uncommon. Nevertheless, at a population level, enough events could have occurred to cause concern amongst parents.

Everyone in the art world is obsessed with Wyatt Cole. He’s immensely talented and his notoriously reclusive personal life makes him all the more compelling. But there’s a reason why his past is hard for him to publicize. After coming out as transgender, Wyatt was dishonorably discharged from the military and disowned by his family. From then on he committed to sobriety and channeled his pain into his flourishing art career. While Ely and Wyatt’s relationship started out on a physical level, their similar struggles spark a much deeper connection. The chemistry is undeniable, but their new relationship as teacher and student means desperately wanting what they can’t have. Yes, I said "fun reading this mystery". Because it's not your usual serious "bad guys do bad things and the good guys work hard to solve the mystery and put the bad guys away" type of mystery. As a matter of fact, it's a bit hard to decide who to root for here. And the end doesn't have the usual unambiguous resolution of most crime stories. An emotionally powerful romance novel about two people finding love after struggling with addiction—ultimately discovering what it means to be completely and unapologetically themselves. White Balance . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 34A suspenseful, professional-grade north country procedural whose heroine, a deft mix of compassion and attitude, would be welcome to return and tie up the gaping loose end Box leaves. The unrelenting cold makes this the perfect beach read. Brighton on the south coast of England is the location for ‘A Shot in the Dark’ and it begins with the re-telling of the infamous Middle Street Massacre of 1951, which brought instant fame and adulation to the newly appointed Inspector Steine (pronounced Steen). Steine announced his arrival in town that year with the proclamation that visitors could “Come here to have fun, enjoy yourselves; get drunk; throw up; copulate under our stately piers like beasts of the field if you must; but don’t commit crime matey, not on my patch” This is a typical follow up question after negative findings – perhaps the effect (whether good or bad) exists only in a subpopulation and therefore was statistically missed by studies of the general population. This is a common question that can be applied to any negative study, and therefore is a fairly generic alternate hypothesis, which most of the time turns out to be false. In the end, I LOVED the plot and themes. And I think going into this with the lens of this being an emotional and personal journey during a potentially triggering return home, will leave you falling in love with this story and characters. Throughout the book the author is a strong presence, becoming almost a character in the story itself through use of parentheticals and conversational tendencies that read as if someone is talking to the reader directly as they might relate an occurance or tell a story. There is a strong feeling of being in a room with the author, perhaps as a stand-up comedy routine is being delivered.
