About this deal

I spent little time with the C6 Bike’s basic console because I had grander ambitions—starting with the Zwift service, my go-to for indoor cycling. Starting May 19 until mid-September, the Roam Transit Route 9 will also run on the Bow Valley Parkway to Johnston Canyon. This Bow Ti is built up with a full 9-speed Shimano XTR group from an era when component groups were still largely designed independent of the type of mountain bike. There were two exceptions at the time: Shimano made a single ring, downhill version of the XTR crankset, and for the cross-country racers they offered the remote shifter as seen on this bike. The remote shifter added a couple of rear shifting paddles to the end of a right-side barend for convenience during extended climbing. Soon after this bar-ends would largely disappear from use. For anyone looking to cycle the entire Bow Valley Parkway it can be accessed from either the Hwy 1A East side at Lake Louise side or the Hwy1A West side near Banff. How long is the Bow Valley Parkway?

The Bowflex C6 resembles what you’d find in a spin class. The 40-pound flywheel paired with 100 levels of resistance provides the necessary stimulus needed for a brutal workout, and the dual-sided pedals are compatible with SPD cleats and cycling shoes. The seat and handlebars are both adjustable; the C6 weighs 112 pounds and has a 330-pound weight capacity. Bike Type I had another problem when using the C6 Bike with Zwift: the bike overestimated how fast I was going and, therefore, how much territory I covered in a particular period of time. An hour-long ride that should have come in at about 12 to 15 miles, similar to my outdoor biking, was revised upwards to about 20 or 25 miles. (I’m good, but not that good.) Mathematically taking this into account on ride after ride was a hassle. And, since I upload data to Strava, an online service that documents all my cycling activity for posterity, the C6 makes me look like a cheater. As I write this, I’m unclear whether this is a Bowflex or Zwift issue; I’ll post in the comments below if and when I learn more. A Peloton Bike In 2021, cyclists on the Highway 1A had the opportunity to cycle the section of the Bow Valley Parkway east of Johnston Canyon without public vehicle traffic. With this section of Highway 1A between the gate at the Fireside day use area and Johnston Canyon closed to public vehicles, it offered a Banff cycling experience like no other.

There are a few downsides to using Peloton on the C6 Bike instead of a Peloton bike. You don’t appear on Peloton leaderboards. You can’t use Peloton’s video-chat feature to communicate with other Peloton-using friends (but that’s easily replicated on an iPad with the video chat service of your choice). Worst of all, Peloton’s iOS app is missing two marquee Peloton-bike features that would make me more likely to sign up: New M3 chips in updated MacBook Pros and iMac, record Apple Q4 profits on lower revenues, no more 27-inch iMacs The C6 Bike will be instantly familiar to spin cyclists. All the usual hardware bells and whistles are there:

Take the time to stop and take pictures of the incredible views along this scenic road. This is a unique experience to get to ride the road without traffic, make the most of it! Make a day of it by stopping at Johnston Canyon, hiking to the Ink Pots or stopping at one of the picnic spots. We rode the Bow Valley Parkway from Castle Junction to Johnston Canyon in early April and it was clear of all snow and ice. In fact, it had also been swept and was clear of any gravel. Biking the Bow Valley Parkway with Kids in 2021 Cyclists looking to ride the section of the Bow Valley Parkway closed to public vehicles can start either in Banff or at the first Hwy 1A exit (gate at Fireside Day Use area). Parks Canada is encouraging cyclists to park at the Train Stations Parking Lot in Banff. Where does biking Bow Valley Parkway start and end?The section of the Bow Valley Parkway east of Johnston Canyon to Banff will remain open to public vehicles EXCEPT from May 1 to June 25 and from September 1 to 30 in 2022, 2023 and 2024 where public vehicles will not be allowed (as part of the 3 year cycling pilot on the Highway 1A). Variable tension makes Zwift more realistic, so I missed it when using the C6 Bike. You can use the knob to increase or decrease resistance manually as you come upon hilly terrain in Zwift, but it’s not the same. Yes, the Bow Valley Parkway is open, with some restrictions to public vehicle access as part of Parks Canada Bow Valley Parkway Cycling Experience 3-Year Pilot. It’s not uncommon to see bears along the Bow Valley Parkway. Ride in a group, carry bear spray in an easily accessible holster and make a lot of noise. The C6 has a weight capacity of 330 pounds, which is a solid number for an exercise bike. Portability
