The D’Alba Waterful Essence Sun Cream with SPF50+ and PA++++ was one of the first sunscreens that got retested after the big sunscreen scandal in 2020, and it passed with flying colours. This isn’t too surprising, given that it was manufactured by Kolmar Korea, sunscreen manufacturer extraordinaire, and by now the manufacturing company behind almost every currently trending sunscreen from Korea.
As for the white cast, there is none! Truly, none at all! I am a pale white woman, so I cannot fully guarantee that this will work on darker skin (and sadly I couldn’t find a dark-skinned creator reviewing this sunscreen). But, I am going to be carefully optimistic in saying this should really work for darker skin, as there aren’t any mineral filters here which could cause a white cast.It leaves a semi-matte effect at first, then becomes quite velvety as it sets, and it stays matte for most of the day. One of the biological activities of thecentellosides isto be able to stimulate GAGs(glycosaminoglycans - polysaccharides that are part of the liquidy stuff between our skin cells), and especially hyaluronic acid synthesis in our skin. This is probably one of the reasons why Centella Asiatica Extract has nice skin moisturizingproperties that was confirmed by a 25 people, four weeks study along with Centella's anti-inflammatory effects.
It leaves a natural “skin like” finish, and doesn’t especially mattify the skin but doesn’t accentuate my shiny skin areas too much during the day either.
I love to alternate between mineral and chemical sunscreens on a daily basis, as I find mineral sunscreens to be gentler on my skin, especially when you use a sunscreen every day, all year round, like me. Probably! It’s a good option, affordable and pretty easy to find (you can find it in some European eshops too). So, as someone who has never played golf in my life and doesn’t really intend to start, I thought this would be a perfect sunscreen for my summer in Dubai! It’s hot as hell, with humidity around 80% right now and my combination skin always look more greasy under these conditions. It’s not a waterproof product though. I remind you that it was designed for golfers. The difference between the two products is mainly on the price: the Goodal is less expensive for a slightly larger size. I honestly use both with as much pleasure, and it’s a product that I can see myself repurchasing! 🙂 Nutrient-rich substances such as ‘Chateau Margaux’ wine extract promotes a fast-absorbing, non-irritating effect, invisibly retaining under makeup without leaving any white cast.You’ll notice that the vast majority of the Korean sunscreens I’ve introduced to you in this article are rather everyday sunscreens, to be used every day under your makeup (or alone if you don’t wear makeup). They know how to disappear, are ultra lightweight and comfortable on the skin. They are city sunscreens, in a word. They are not necessarily super resistant sunscreens in more “extreme” conditions with heat, humidity, sweat, excess sebum etc.
