Death Stranding is getting a brand new art book that reveals some of the unseen concepts from the game including new enemies and vehicles. Heartman sees his condition as something of a blessing in disguise; his ability to regularly "visit" the other side and then return to the living is relatively unique, and it allows him to effectively (if slowly) research phenomena related to the Death Stranding in addition to searching for his family. This process has gradually deformed and weakened his heart, but after roughly a decade he has become America's leading expert on the Beach. I usually start with functionality – creating the essential parts and, of course, thinking of the overall structure. But what’s even more important is keeping in mind that it has to look good when the player interacts with it or controls it in the game. We consider if the action looks natural and whether it will move realistically as it’s controlled. Those factors are much more important, so we always try to balance out the artistic design against those points. This incredibly rare Limited Edition contains a tip-in sheet signed by Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa. This Limited Edition is offered with an art print signed by Yoji Shinkawa. The print's title is Sam Porter Bridges and ghost-like BTs by Yoji Shinkawa. To avoid being implicated in the incident, Bridget and John faked his suicide and forged him the new identity of Die-Hardman. Die-Hardman was given Bridget's mask to obscure his face, and used it for decades to conceal his identity. When asked about the mask, Die-Hardman would claim it was for hiding facial burns.Oftentimes, he'll create some drawings based on my ideas, and show them to me a few days later. The image I tweeted recently was one of these drawings." No identification with actual persons; places; buildings and products is intended or should be inferred He is the Art Director of DEATH STRANDING. He is the lead artist and character, mechanical and environment designer for KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS. After countless trips to the Beach, he reasoned that with each person's Beach being unique, not even death would allow him to be reunited with his family, so he gave up his quest, realizing that it would change nothing. Moving on with his life, he later met a woman named Samantha Spade, suggesting a future romantic partner. The combined result of his artistic training and choice of tools, is that his pen flows intuitively, the paper capturing bold characters in strong poses that seem to come from nowhere—Shinkawa's doodles show his absolute mastery of weight distribution in a human body, keeping character art from "floating," as the workings of gravity are always evident.

As part of the interviews for our new video, How Death Stranding Foresaw Our Future, we asked Kojima about the image he tweeted (below), which appeared to show a new vehicle type branded with "BRIDGES", the name of Death Stranding's post-apocalyptic corporation-government: From a career perspective, Shinkawa first envisioned being a manga artist, but, fearing his love for painting had given him the "wrong skill set," decided against that. Instead, he applied for a position at Konami in Tokyo, then and now one of the leading entertainment businesses in Japan. At the time, Konami saw opportunities in the new generation of home consoles (the Sega Saturn and the PlayStation both launched in 1994), leading to large investments in studios and games.

Who is artist Yoji Shinkawa?

Die-Hardman is a reference to Die Hard, one of Hideo Kojima's favorite films. His alias is a direct reference, while his real name is a reference to John McClane, the lead character in the film, portrayed by actor Bruce Willis. I would say sequels are easier to set the image at the start. New IPs always have this start-up difficulty of giving birth, so to speak, so it is a whole lot more difficult.
