The death of Her Majesty The Queen was announced on 8 September 2022 with Robert Aldridge, the Right Honourable Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh, leading tributes on behalf of the people of Edinburgh. Our heartfelt sympathies and condolences are with all the members of the Royal Family at this very sad time. Sending my sincere condolences. As an American expat, I feel the Queen embodied truly great British values and was a stellar example throughout the years. I feel privileged to have lived in Edinburgh and experienced life in the UK firsthand under her incredible rule. RIP your majesty. The Queen was the only constant in my 65 years. She was a woman I admired as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother all whilst being Monarch of our country. Very sadly missed I wish my condolences to Queen Elizabeth II for being a loyal yet trusting leader throughout all of the years I knew about her. I wasn’t always a believer but you converted me. Exemplified service and honour to country and fellow beings. It’s been a pleasure, thanks.

Your many visits to the Canongate Kirk where we use to prepare the Kirk by helping cleaning, polishing the silver and my job was to keep your pew clean and dust free. We were always there the Burns children from the Canongate and you and all the family over the years made a point to say hello as we lined up outside the church and cheered as your family planted trees . Our pictures with you are in the church on the wall.An outstanding Monarch and a wonderful human being. A constant throughout our lives. Leading the country with grace, humility, compassion, intellect and empathy. Rest in peace your Majesty. We will miss you x R.I.P Your Majesty. A very sad occasion for all, someone who will be missed by all and a very special person. She worked to the end of her life for her people. I had the pleasure of meeting her in June at our historic Ceremony of the Keys and it has been my privilege and honour to be her personal representative in Edinburgh. To many she is the nation’s mother and grandmother and it is with great sadness that I convey, on behalf of the Scottish capital, our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to all the members of the royal family at this very sad time.
