About this deal

I've just had one of these delivered today and there are no signal problems whatsoever – I can get both BBC and ITV from two different areas, although not the one that I would like for the local news. You can only re-sort channels by listing them alphabetically, but this isn't an issue for me, as my favourites list contains fewer than 30 channels and I can soon skip through them. My Humax HDR-2000T is 9 years old. Recently some buttons on the remote have become unreliable and I was thinking of just replacing that but the PVR itself is also starting to become a bit temperamental. It occasionally throws up a blank green screen which can only be cleared by cycling the power, which is a faff because of it's location. The other day I was scrolling through the recorded material and it suddenly froze and wouldn't respond to any remote buttons. The remote seemed to be transmitting as it's PVR button was flashing. Again a power cycle cleared it but it has made me think it's time to replace the whole machine.

Device works flawlessly using a splitter. The fault if it is correct to call it that has to be with the loop-through side of the 2T as it's present when no connection by HDMI is present. When you connect a hdmi source to a HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection) capable destination, the source and destination exchange data that: The second was from Luke, who referred me to a topic on the MyHumax forum, pointing out that is a Humax fault that they have been aware of since 5th August. In both cases the destination and source exchange data (EDID) to identify what the destination supports. If you select that mode then it should maintain loop-through in standby. Albeit at the expense of a bit more on your electricity bill.

The Fox T2 has that but the 2000T doesn't seem to have it as a menu option, it can be solved by splitting the signal to the 2000T and the TV of course assuming you have enough signal.

With power saving in standby set to 'OFF', loop through to the TV remains totally in tact. Neither of the USB ports become active. Even when the recording starts the USB ports remain inactive. Under these circumstances the only way to activate the USB ports is to toggle the 2000T on and then off again, and the USB ports will then remain active until the recording has finished, providing there is not another recording due to start in the subsequent 40 minutes. We also press pause and play a few times – a fun game in itself – and are pleased with the sensitivity of this live TV control. I’m assuming that running the signal through a hub is just enough of a barrier to cause signal loss whereas running the lead direct the signal is maintained – just. Sometimes the IPTV channels work, but sometimes they don't. Again, I don't know why as it's not a network issue. (iPlayer still loads)

None of the solutions worked and so I have ended up using a passive splitter (less than a couple of quid). The splitter appears to be much the better option. No degradation of TV signal and no more problems with switching. I can now also use the low power state to save extra pennies. There are other examples on the web with the 2000T losing sound, even when using a single hdmi port, and as you don't even own a 2000T then to try and suggest it's the users who don't know what they are doing is just incredibly arrogant. Additionally the TV I am using does not auto select on HDMI but that is probably irrelevant with the HDR-2000T when its power saving option is set to off. The TV can always detect the HDR-2000T's HDMI when the HDR-2000T's power saving is off, even in standby and no recordings set to start within the next 40 minutes. Here is how I can reproduce the symptoms of momentary break up during the switch to active standby, the described activity on the USB ports and the described activity on the HDMI port (all of which I cannot get near reproducing when power saving is 'OFF') ...... : Interesting result, though as you know with my device it happens with power saving set to off. We do have very good signal, 100% quality with strength around 85%.

Through the Humax TV Portal you can directly access BBC iPlayer to catch up on those programmes that you might have missed. Looking for additional entertainment then watch YouTube or listen to internet radio, additional apps are also available to enhance your viewing pleasure. If you had understood this, you would have realised that in this case that the simple fix simply ensured that that the two destinations was easily fixed by ensuring that the two destination devices received the virtually universal supported digital audio codec (lpcm stereo). Perhaps you would post the two devices you are splitting the signal to, and blaming source rather than the near certainty it's the limitations of the destination kit.
