About this deal

Baby playpens can vary considerably in size, from not much bigger than a crib to large spaces that provide a lot of room for your baby to play. Some are adjustable, allowing you to use more or fewer panels depending on the space you have or want to use. How much should I spend?

Playpens were all the rage in our parents day, but seem to be bit out-of-favour with modern Mums. I, too, have been guilty of a slight dislike of the caged-animal look, preferring my children to be able to explore at their leisure. First off, though, we set it up as a traditional hexagonal playpen. Instant hit with the older boys. Pink was promptly taken out so that her big brothers could get in and sprawl in peace on the remarkably cushioned and warm hexagonal floor mat that comes with it. It appears my caged-animal prejudice is not shared by my boys, who’s favourite game since the arrival of the playpen in the house has been ‘Zoo’s’, vying with each other for the pleasure of being the caged and dangerous tiger/leopard/bear/gorilla/tortoise (Jolly and his Bilibo make a VERY dangerous tortoise).

Wooden Playpen 3 in 1 Deluxe Hexagonal

Additional features to the playpen include a zip close door for ease of access. Two suction pads have been added to the base of each floor element, for added stability should the pen be used on wooden floors, tiles or laminate. The interior diameter provides a substantial 120cm of space for your child to explore. The deluxe fabric playpen measures 71cm in height, ensuring maximum safety yet with ease of access for parents in mind. At Safetots we never compromise on Safety, all our playpens have been safety tested to comply to the latest EU Safety regulations for playpens: EN12227:2010.

Any well-made playpen should last for as long as you need it – although you should monitor it for any signs of damage such as tears to mesh sides or chips from the bars. In general you might want to stop using a baby playpen when your little one starts to get big enough to walk and work things out (like how to open a play pen door or gate!) or is able to climb over the walls. There is no set cut-off point but you might want to stop using one by the time your child is 18-24 months old. How big are baby playpens? A baby play pen, sometimes written baby playpen, provides a structure where your little one can play in safety. This means having walls of some kind that are sturdy enough to keep your child safely inside and usually a mat or soft floor. What are the different types of play pens available?Browse through our large array of baby play yards that are available in a variety of sizes (including large and extra-large pens for toddlers), designs and colours to select the baby pen that is perfect for your child and your home. Our range includes companies such as Star Kids, Winner Kids, Tikk Tokk and Jolly KidZ playpen. We offer the best products in Australia. Nanny Annie’s baby playpens allow your baby or toddler to play or nap in a confined, safe environment while you can carry on with your daily chores at ease. Small children and babies on the move are focussed on exploring everything in sight and, as they are speedy learners, they are permanently on the lookout for new things to play with. It goes without saying then that being placed in a playpen with restricted boundaries may prove challenging for some and not for others. The tests carried out are designed to mimic the actions of a small child looking for ways to break free from their safe playpen space as well as for those who are more than happy to bounce themselves off the sides and treat it like a gym. As everything goes in the mouth to aid learning in this age group, expect your child to mouth, chomp and teeth on the frame and materials no matter how interesting the toys sharing the playpen with them may be. When buying a product to help keep your child out of harm’s way, Safetots believe it is worth investing in one that has been tested to a professionally approved level of safety using rigorous testing methods. I have to say that it IS heavy, but not unmanageable, and that heaviness is created by the really sturdy build quality, something I wouldn’t want to trade. Avoid tying toys to the frame as these pose a strangulation hazard. Once your toddler can climb out it is time to stop using the playpen.
