About this deal

Allying himself with the Ruinous Powers, Warmaster Horus convinces half of his brother Primarchs and their Space Marine Legions to betray their oaths and make war upon the Emperor and his loyal sons.

After purging all suspected loyalist members within the three Legions under his direct command, Horus selected Isstvan V as his central command post, meticulously preparing a treacherous trap for his former brothers and their Legions. While the Heresy was sparked by a conspiracy orchestrated by the Chaos forces, it was further fuelled by several contributing factors that drove numerous Legio Astartestowards rebellion. Among these factors, the foremost was the Emperor’s unexpected return to Terra and his subsequent seclusion as he immersed himself in a secretive project, which he withheld from his Primarchs, including his beloved son Horus, who held the title of Warmaster. This apparent abandonment of the Great Crusade, coupled with the Emperor’s reluctance to confide in his own sons, sowed seeds of mistrust, resentment, and disappointment among many of the Primarchs towards their father.Speaking of ending the game, I also really liked how the game has multiple ways to end. And let me add that none of them are easy to achieve. Horus Hersey is a very tight game that has a great ebb and flow to it. Once side will seem to have the upper hand only to have a strategically placed card switch the tide of the game. During our games, we constantly would have each player close to a different objective at the same time. Horus Heresy requires players to stay on their toes and adapt throughout the game. It is, however, suggested that even experienced players read the full rule set so they don’t make any rash assumptions about changes made or not made. The main difference between this rule set and its predecessor is the introduction of Reaction Phases. These can occur in the Movement Phase, the Firing Phase and the Assault Phase. This changes the traditional procedure of Player 1 does all their actions then Player 2 does all theirs. This interactive ability means the non-phasing player may move towards or away from another unit they see. It can return fire or evade fire aginst a firing unit and it can conduct overwatch fire or “Hold the Line” against a charging unit. All this adds up to a more immersive session as the turns progress. Moreover, the Heresy’s catalyst can be attributed to the Emperor’s disciplinary actions against Lorgar and the Word Bearers, setting in motion the chain of events that led to the Heresy itself. Following a public humiliation and severe reprimand of Lorgar and his entire Legion, during which they were compelled to kneel before the Emperor for propagating the belief in his divinity, the devout Word Bearers felt a profound sense of betrayal. Desperate to find a higher power to venerate, they embarked on a quest to seek any formidable force within the universe. This quest eventually led Lorgar and his Legion into the depths of the Eye of Terror, where they pledged their allegiance to the Chaos forces and began plotting against the Emperor. Thus, in secret, the Word Bearers became the first Chaos Space Marines. Covertly scheming to wage war against the Emperor, they clandestinely established Warrior Lodges, overseen by their Chaplains, within the ranks of the other Astartes Legions. While appearing innocuous initially, many of these lodges would later evolve into breeding grounds of support for Horus’ rebellion in the impending conflict. In the year 0014.M31, on the first day of Primus, Horus’ armada finally reached the Sol System. During the intense final phase of the Solar War, the traitors wrested control of the Solar System from loyalist forces, despite Rogal Dorn’s best efforts to stall until reinforcements arrived from Roboute Guilliman and Lion El’Jonson. Once within range of Terra, Horus and his forces devastated Luna’s naval bases and, within thirty days, overwhelmed the Terran system’s defences. Terra endured bombardment and devastation. The corrupted Astartes from the Sons of Horus, Death Guard, World Eaters, Emperor’s Children, Iron Warriors, Thousand Sons, Word Bearers, and Night Lords eventually landed on Terra, facing fierce resistance from defenders led by the Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, and White Scars. Vast numbers of traitor Imperial Army, Dark Mechanicum, Chaos Cultists, and Daemonic forces joined the traitor Astartesin the assault on Terra. The loyalists were outnumbered, and the battle for Terra escalated into a siege of the Imperial Palace.

In the Signus Cluster, Sanguinius and the Blood Angelsfaced a perilous encounter with Daemonic forces led by Kyriss the Perverse and Ka’Bandha, narrowly escaping the clutches of corruption. Schism Of Mars (005-006.M31) This set comprises six plastic components, and is supplied with a Citadel 32mm Round Base. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints. To start the game, players get a few options for which scenario they want to play. The first scenario is probably the one most players will opt for though. Brother Against Brother pits Horus in a battle to kill the Emperor. Simple Enough. After the scenario is chosen and the game setup (this takes a bit of time), the players are ready to begin. A miniatures showcase containing eight armies created by members of the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy Studio and beyond But that brings us to the game play. Even the best components in the world won’t matter if the game play is unengaging. Fortunately, that’s not the case with Horus Heresy. While the game play isn’t perfect, it’s still a very well thought out game. One of the problems though is the game is almost a little too complicated for it’s own good. I feel like the designer might have gone overboard in certain areas.

The Horus Heresy was truly set in motion when Warmaster Horus suffered a grievous injury at the hands of the possessed Eugen Temba, who wielded the stolen Anathame on the ill-fated moon of Davin, a place tainted by the corrupting influence of the Chaos God Nurgle. Despite Horus’ superhuman immune system and the earnest efforts of the Sons of Horus’ most skilled apothecaries, the wound inflicted by the accursed blade refused to heal. In a desperate attempt to find a remedy, the Mournival transported Horus to the Davinite Serpent Lodge, believing it held the key to his recovery. Unbeknownst to all parties involved, Erebus and the Word Bearers had masterminded the events on Davin, orchestrating them in secret. The Horus Heresy, also known as the Age of Darkness, was the first and most devastating civil war in Imperial history. Occurring in early 30K and lasting several years, it divided and nearly destroyed the fledgling Imperium. It marked the end of the Great Crusade and the encasing of the Emperor of Mankind into the Golden Throne. Here in part one of our four part series we look at the events that led to Horus’ corruption. Shortly after Sanguinius arrived on Terra, Leman Russ departed with the intention of confronting Horus himself. Thanks to runes placed by infiltrating Knights-Errant during the Battle of Molech, the Space Wolves managed to locate the Vengeful Spirit. Russ engaged Horus in a duel amidst the ongoing battle. Although Russ sustained severe injuries, he managed to wound Horus with the Spear of Russ, purging much of the corruption that had afflicted the Warmaster since Molech. However, this battle exacted a heavy toll on the Space Wolves, who retreated to Yarant with Russ in a comatose state. The Wolves narrowly escaped destruction at the hands of Sons of Horus First Captain Ezekyle Abaddon, thanks to Corax and the Raven Guard. Battle of Beta-Garmon (012-013.M31)This legendary tale of treachery and heroism is brought to vibrant life with over one hundred magnificent sculpted plastic playing pieces. The stunning three-dimensional map of Terra brilliantly portrays the landscape immediately surrounding the Imperial Palace, from the magma-filled crevasses to the fortifications that offer the Imperial player protection against both enemy assault and orbital bombardments. [1] Emerging from the Ruinstorm, the Dark Angels under Lion El’Jonson embarked on a campaign to purge traitor-held worlds, culminating in the destruction of Chemos, Barbarus, and ultimately Cthonia. The Muster on Ullanor and Lorgar’s coup (013.M31) Another factor that played a role was the establishment of an administrative entity called the Council of Terra. Numerous Primarchs perceived these human bureaucrats as encroaching upon their rightful position as leaders of the Imperium they had tirelessly forged. To compound matters, the Primarchs were deliberately excluded from the Council, giving rise to apprehension among many of them about the prospect of an Imperium governed primarily by human administrators, rather than the Emperor’s sons and their Astartes Legions. Speaking of units, Horus Heresy comes with a ton of plastic miniatures. Players get to control troops ranging from Space Marines to the huge mechanical Titans. I also liked that each faction has their own somewhat unique looking minis in various colors. Once the game is setup and in progress, it’s hard not to admire the sheer scale of Horus Hersey Horus Heresy includes six scenarios that differ in both difficulty and style. The first scenario, titled Brother Against Brother, is recommended for all new players as it provides predetermined starting locations for both player's forces. It is a well balanced version of the Battle for Terra, and also presents a roughly historical recreation of the conflict's events. [1] Sources
