About this deal

Kevin Bridges reveals gambling problem: News 2014: Chortle: The UK Comedy Guide". Chortle.co.uk. 5 October 2014 . Retrieved 6 December 2015. Still only 36, having sold out stadiums for a decade, Kevin Bridges has justified confidence in the spartan elegance of his approach. Not many comics could hold the spotlight for 80 minutes on the night of an England match, armed with nothing but the mic. As the show begins, people can be seen everywhere watching the game on their phones, at a covert low angle. Bridges appeared on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow on the BBC, where he performed at the Edinburgh Playhouse. [3] [4] Bridges returned to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2009 with his show 'An Hour to Sing For Your Soul'. He was nominated for best newcomer in the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. [5]

Kevin married Kerry Monaghan in 2019. In December of 2022, Bridges announced the birth of his first child, a son named Liam, born in May of that year. Both Declan's and James's lives are in trouble but maybe a chance meeting will give them both an opportunity to inspire each other to greatness..... This is not a comedy novel by a comedian - Kevin has been candid in the past around his own struggles with mental health and his debut novel reflects this. It is a sensitive portrayal with both main characters struggling in their own ways to survive and working to find their way through the challenges they are faced with.

One day, during our sentence, I decided to spend a few hours to see what was in my head and in my soul and found that I began writing for hours and then the same thing the next day.As I said, there is a focus on mental health, and especially the kind of poor mental health that comes out of modern life – I will leave you with the quote from the book that I felt most distilled what I’ve often tried to articulate: He has his pet Labrador for companionship and his best friend-turned-mentor, a pseudo-intellectual who works as a greenskeeper at the local municipal golf course, both of which help keep the worst of his anxieties at bay. But following a drunken row with local gangsters, Declan's worries threaten to spiral out of control. This book is a character lead novel, for sure, although the story/plot itself would still be good even without such well written characters the fact the characters are so well developed is a added bonus. I just LOVED this book – it’s written in large chunks, from each of the main characters’ points of view, rather than in shorter chapters and this works really well. There’s an openness in the characters that an alternative format might not have allowed. Bridges began performing on stage when he left school shortly after turning 17, doing stand-up comedy gigs at The Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow and then throughout the UK. Bridges said he was inspired to try stand up after reading Frank Skinner's autobiography. At 18, he reached the final of Channel 5's So You Think You're Funny competition at the Edinburgh Fringe. [1] In 2006, Bridges performed his first full-length solo show at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, to a sold-out audience and much critical acclaim. Moving into bigger venues every year, Bridges sold out his hometown festival in 2007, 2008 and 2009. [2] He performed at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
