About this deal

To its credit, the LEGO Icons set has a lotgoing for it to justify that price tag, at least relative to other LEGO sets. There’s a long, complex and involved build process, as we’ve already touched on, which should keep you busy for a good few weeks if you pace yourself properly. But you can also see along the way exactly where the set’s budget has gone, which can’t be said of everything that rolls out of Billund. That being said I will buy this set when the right time comes - at least 15% discount or super neat GWP Whereas the other members of the Fellowship are dressed fairly consistently across their whole adventure, Aragorn wears more formal attire for the Council of Elrond. The padding underneath his dark brown robe displays nice texture and I like the decoration around his collar. The tousled hair element seems appropriate too, while the double-sided head includes some facial hair.

LEGO and The Lord of the Rings fans alike will also receive several new LEGO elements from the world of Middle-earth, including: Bilbo’s sword, Sting, the broken shards of Narsil, Aragorn’s ranger sword, Boromir’s sword, as well as numerous dwarven axes and elvish blades to ensure the Fellowship are well armed for their quest ahead. The build was utterly phenomenal, and just enjoyable from the very first bag, to the last numbered bag (49). It had everything you could ask for in a minifigure-scale set – from intricate architectural details on the structure, to landscaping and tree-building, and even plenty of fun great tile-work. Both minifigures wear dark bluish grey robes, with sand green and metallic silver accents. While these designs look great, their colours should differ between them, at the very least. The dress provides some variety though and this torso is cleverly designed, so the dark green belt appears equally natural with or without the ribbons hanging underneath.Well I am the entire queue at Birmingham uk, store am somewhat surprised but suspect signed copies in London are the big draw today." And most importantly, the broken blade Narsil which was used by Isildur to cut the ring of Sauron’s hand. The Tower The sheer variety and incredible never-before-seen techniques employed will last with me a long time, and in many ways, it reminded me of building 10305 Lion Knight’s Castle (also co-designed by Mike Psiaki), but a more refined, and polished version.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The Lego Group Build on Partnership to Produce Construction Toys for THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ Trilogy and the Two Films Based on THE HOBBIT". PR Newswire . Retrieved 16 December 2011. Talking about the set, LEGO Design Master, Mike Psiaki said, “We know many of our fans have been anticipating a set like this for a long-time – but a great LEGO The Lord of the Rings set is never late, it arrives precisely when it means to! It was important to us that we created something really special in this recreation of Rivendell." I think the size of this set is alright, but for this price point I expect a full building rather than half of it. This set looks like a glorified version of 80044 that is almost five times more expensive."a b c Farshtey, Gregory; Lipkowitz, Daniel; Hugo, Simon (2020-10-01). Lego Minifigure A Visual History New Edition. Dorling Kindersley Limited. p.191. ISBN 978-0-241-50202-0. The interiors are dominated by these beautiful new printed tiles, which have a leaf pattern and subtle colours to mark their orientation. Be careful here and make sure you align them correctly. The Nexo shield and 2×2 pointed star combination is also beautiful, and I am so glad that the set makes very generous use of these new tiles. For those unfamiliar with Lord of the Rings, the #10316 The Lord of the Rings Rivendell is a representation of the elven stronghold, Rivendell. This location is a key feature in the films and serves as the introduction for major characters and sets the foundation for the story. Legolas Greenleaf appears equally detailed, as metallic silver patterns complement the earthy colours of his attire. Sand green and sand blue look marvellous together and the dual-moulded boots are effective as well. However, I think tan would have been more suitable for Legolas' hair than blonde and maybe this Elf should have included unique hair, which could accommodate his quiver. Boromir: A prince of the Stewards of Gondor who journeys with the Fellowship towards Mordor. [14] [15] [16]

Legolas Greenleaf: An elf from Mirkwood and the prince of the Woodland Realm - he is Thranduil's son. [16] [19]

Lego The Lord of the Rings and Lego The Hobbit was inspired by The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogy. The Lego construction toy range was based on the film trilogy and developed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The construction sets were designed to recreate the story and characters of the film trilogy in Lego form. [3] [12] [8] Launch [ edit ] The third and largest section is the Council Ring, which also contains the larger portion of Elrond’s fancy home. I like the stone columns sprouting from the tiled floor, with more candelabra and desks correctly distributed around the chamber. Each desk includes an inkwell, a candle and a map. One shows Sauron's fortress of Barad-dûr looming over Mordor, while the other displays rivers approaching a lake. Perhaps this map represents Nen Hithoel, where the Argonath is located. If you need firmer proof that 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell is instead of – not in addition to – a regular wave of LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets (beyond it falling under the Icons banner), look to its characters. A total of 15 minifigures are included, and between them they cover every major named hero character in the movies. The ground floor is luxuriously adorned with 69 printed tiles, matching those from the courtyard outside. This pattern looks fantastic and precisely reflects the onscreen location, with light bluish grey tiles framing the decorative centrepiece. Unfortunately, the star-shaped design overlaps the edge of the model, so finishes rather abruptly.

To have this many named minifigures in a set feels unprecedented, especially characters that are as sought-after as Lord of the Rings minifigures. Buying the older Fellowship of the Ring minifigures on the secondary market would cost you as much as the set itself. The two Dwarves include medium legs, which are ideal, since these characters stand between the heights of Men and Hobbits in the films. An alternative hair element is supplied for Gimli and looks reasonable, although repetitive as Gandalf and Gloin use the same piece. The minifigure's twin axes are excellent though, with grips on the haft and immediately behind the axehead. Todd Spangler (2015-04-09). " 'Lego Dimensions' Game from Warner Bros. to Meld Batman, 'Lord of the Rings' and More". Variety . Retrieved 2015-04-09. Three separate sections make up 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, which hopefully means you’ll be able to share the build between three different people. (Unless you keep the precious for yourself, and nobody could blame you here.) With more than 6,000 pieces in the box, it’s likely to take a good long while to assemble either way. And on the upper level is the room where Frodo recovers after being stabbed by the Morgul Blade wielded by the Wringwraiths as they flee Weathertop. Here’s a look at the bed, and the cool Elf statue on the bedhead.
