Sadly, both gentlemen have passed away; Gene McFadden (1948 - 2006) and John Whitehead (1948 - 2004)...

Angie from East Coast, VaWow. That's tragic about Whitehead. So is that comment by William N. below. Their final single recorded before their death but released posthumously, was titled “Show Me The Money.” It was released in 2009 on the Newtrend Unlimited label. In 2017, McFadden and Whitehead were posthumously inducted in the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame, Class of 2017.

John Cavadus Whitehead (July 10, 1948 – May 11, 2004) was an American singer and songwriter. He was best known as one of the key members of the Philadelphia International record label, and was one-half of the successful team of McFadden & Whitehead with Gene McFadden. [1] Between 1965 and 2004 the Canton, Ohio group had fifty nine records on the Hot R&B Singles chart, twenty five made the Top 10 with ten* reaching #1... John from Nashville, TnGene Mcfadden and John Whitehead parked themselves at Leon Huff's office at Philadelphia International Records. When Huff came out of his office to get a soft drink, the two writers followed him quoting some of the lyrics to the song. Leon liked what he heard, restructured some of the music, and a classic was born.

McFadden and Whitehead were an American R&B duo, best known for their signature tune " Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now". They wrote and produced some of the most popular R&B hits of the 1970s, and were primarily associated with the Gamble and Huff record label, Philadelphia International Records.
