About this deal

mm is our most standard size based on data we receive from our healthcare experts. Mothers may need a different size based on anatomy or other factors, such as needing a different size per breast or the point a mother is at in her breastfeeding journey. As their breasts adapt over the course of lactation, some moms may find that they need a larger size breast shield, while other may benefit from a smaller size. After unblinding, post‐hoc analyses analyzed included PAMR (%) and volume (mL) at 2, 5 and 10minutes, mean and peak rate of expression (mL/min and mL/sec, respectively), the time to first milk ejection (min), and the vacuum applied in the stimulation mode and expression modes (mmHg). Typically, the size closest to your actual nipple size, with the occasional need to size up for comfort. If the fit is too snug for your personal comfort, you can tell by the feeling that your nipple is being squeezed like a sausage casing. A good fit doesn’t feel overly snug when compressed, but that is uniquely up to the pumping person to determine what is too snug. I highly recommend trying two sizes realistically in your range to see what feels the best for you. What are some challenges with the Pumpables Liquid Flanges? Pumpables Liquid Flanges make traditional hard plastic flanges look like Stone Age tools, and they take the pumping experience to a whole new level!

In my experience, many moms come to me thinking they are using a flange that is too small when in reality, it is usually far too big! I just bought “ Medela breast shield 21-mm insert.” It fits Spectra 24-mm flange too, or if you use Medela, fits in 24-mm flange. I’m using both. I also used hospital grade Spectra breast pump (i.e Spectra S1). Guess what? My output is 150% up (compared to my yield when I pumped for my first born)! It takes more than a minute to get a letdown (this one might be subjective - there might be other reasons that you have a slow letdown, but in most cases, milk flows almost instantly with the correct size) Most breast pump shields have a 90° angle. The Freestyle™Hands-free breast shields are designed with our research-based 105° angle technology to create a more natural fit and reduce pressure on the breast, resulting in better milk removal and more comfort. It’s from Medela, a trusted expert in breast milk feeding for 60+ yearsPersonalFit Flex breast shields are also compatible with all Medela breast pumps and are available in four sizes. Please note that Medela offers a 36 mm size in PersonalFit only, not PersonalFit Flex: Online consultation with lactation consultants (a short video consultation for a small fee, such as this).

The fact that mums like Manuela and Jeannine felt more relaxed and comfortable while using the new shield could explain the increase in milk volume – stress and discomfort can hinder the hormone oxytocin, which is essential for the release of breast milk. 7 Maymom has the largest variety of flanges and flange inserts – all the way from 10mm up to 36mm. They are compatible with most pumps, and they have adapters as well. We’ve maintained the 105° flange angle all the way round that oval shape, with no one part more open than another,” explains Dr Prime. “So there’s no wrong way to hold it – mums can place the shield wherever it seems to fit to their breast shape nicely.” Easy to clean and assemble collection cups with just three parts and in only three steps. Dishwasher safe

If you’re wondering whether the breast shields are the right size for your patient’s nipples, ask yourself the following questions: Most lactation consultants recommend using the "COMFY" test to help determine the right flange size. Here are the five major guidelines that the acronym stands for:

Most pumps come with a standard 24 millimeter (mm) flange. But they’re available in a wide range of sizes, generally anywhere from 21 to 36 mm. The size indicates the diameter of the small tube on the flange's narrow edge. Jeannine, mum of two, Switzerland, agrees: “The first time I tried the new PersonalFit Flex™ breast shield I put it on and thought, ‘Wow, that just fits!’. With other breast shields I needed two or three attempts of placing it until it sat properly. I put on the oval one and it fitted first time. It’s a pity I didn’t have the oval shield from the beginning – maybe I would have pumped better!”

No, Freestyle™ Hands-free does not shut off automatically when the collection containers are full. However, because of the collection cups’ transparent design and side scale indicator, it’s easy for a mum to monitor how much she has collected during that session and pause pumping if the cups are full. Is the Freestyle™ Hands-free breast pump easy to clean? Pumpable fitting room ( FREE consultation with Pumpables team, send your pumping video over and let them share their suggestion) With the 105° oval shield ready, it was time to put it to the test. The team conducted four clinical studies with pumping mums – in hospitals, in homes, and in the lab at Medela headquarters in Switzerland. 5
