About this deal

Color separated the Cinnabar Red Polypore from most other common shelf mushrooms. Young specimens have a striking cinnamon to red to orange color that fades over time.

Small, white, with fronds beneath the cap. Very common in pasture land, and edible but not hugely exciting in terms of flavour. The size is up to you, but we think that 25 feet by 15 feet (about 8 meters by 5 meters) is a good start for serious commercial operations. That will give you enough space to produce around 150 to 200 pounds (about 68 kilograms to 91 kilograms) of mushrooms per week. In our mushroom fruiting chambers, we like to provide just enough light to see what we’re doing, as well as to read and write notes. Not making it airtight – Your fruiting chamber needs to be able to hold in the humidity and minimize outside contaminants. If your chamber isn’t properly sealed it can be difficult to keep it humid enough. Inonotus and Coltricia shelf mushroom can grow on the forest floor. The specimen in the picture partialy resembles both. Unsure of ID.The red, frilly cap sitting atop a yellowy stem makes this an eye-catching mushroom. Common in pasture land. What I appreciate most about mushroom shelves is their adaptability. Many models come with adjustable shelves, allowing me to customize the spacing based on the size and growth stage of different mushroom varieties. This feature has been incredibly useful as I experiment with various species and grow multiple batches simultaneously.

We recommend growing in batches and harvesting all at once. That way, once your bags are done fruiting you can remove them all at once and give your fruiting chamber a good clean. Scrub down your shelving and walls with a diluted bleach solution to kill any natural fungi or bacteria. Dark brown with distinctive gill ridges, common in woodland, and closely related to the famed chanterelle used often in cuisine. One of the most popular mushrooms thanks to its delicious flavour and wide versatility. Bottom-heavy base with a distinctive stem and a round brown cap. Frequent in mixed woodland. Turkey Tails (trametes versicolor) rank as one of the most common polypores in forest areas around the world. Its wide distribution makes it an easy find for mushroom enthusiasts more interested in finding culinary fungi than documenting local polypores.Have you ever looked carefully at the ground (or the bases of trees) when walking through woodland? Dome-shaped cap which can have scales, commonly found beneath birch trees. This large mushroom is best sliced before drying or cooking to ensure consistency.
